"We have ships, do we not? And submersible craft, and the mechanisms to pump water from sealed chambers? Even if the Earth is buried unto the highest peak, humanity may yet survive for generations if we prepare sufficiently, adrift in fleeted ships. All we need do is construct those ships and supply them with all that is required for sustainable agriculture and medicine, and whatever materials and tools may prove necessary to constructing channels between the surface and the new ocean floor.

"That was... rather my point. The scenario is one which gives us time. With a safe, sustainable population afloat, we can begin building structures from beneath the waves. It does nothing to truly destroy Earth's potential to support life, so long as we preserve sufficient stocks of animal and plant life to grow."
