[Gaulgath]

Just a game to pass the time until the next release. Hopefully someone will continue it, because it could get interesting. Our objective is to create an ASCII Art DF Story. I'll start, and you'll copy + paste the scene (don't forget CODE tags!) or just do whatever. Just stay with the story, and make it interesting.

Rig and Alor, fortress guards, are ambushed by a ratman! What will happen next?!

They start their advance and Rig strikes the first blow against the ratman,
but as he is a new recruit, he fails to hit, the ratman retaliates with similar
effect

Two more ratmen climb up from the black abyss, and Rig 
is nearly surrounded! Alor lets out a fearsome battle 
cry and charges forward in an attempt to save his friend. 
With one mighty strike from his iron axe, 
a ratman's head lopped clear off!

A passing marksdwarf called Urith, hears the commotion and comes to help, he charges onto the scene and kills the nearest ratman in a single shot. Rig and Alor now press their advantage and jump at the last ratman. Alor's axe swifly dismembers the ratman's left arm, wheras Rig's spear gets stuck in the ratman's belly, Rig grimly starts twisting it....

Suddenly a giant spider climbs up the chasm and shoots a web at the ratman, which it quickly starts reeling in like a fishing line. Rig of course hangs on to his spear, and is now pulling the spear for dear life as the ratman is now hovering over the chasm, suspended by web and spear.

Alor jumps to aid his friend and grabs hold of him. Urith meanwhile shoots again at the spider,  managing to with his simgle bolt take out all eight of it's eyes. The spider writhes in pain with its legs flailing wildly, it manages to take of the ratman's other arm, both its legs, and its head, but Rig's spear is still lodgesd firmly in the corpse and the spider is still attached to it by the web...

The blinded cave spider suddenly loses hold of it's web, and falls into the dark chasm. The silk net snaps and swings to the wall, and Rig is barely able to hold on. The impaled ratman slides quickly plummets further into the abyss, taking Rig's spear with it.
"Grab my hand!" yells Alor, leaning into the darkness. "Quickly!"

A batman shrieks with glee as he swoops from the chasm flying straight for Rig's dangling feet!
Urith grins grimly and takes up aim. *Thunk!* A bolt misses the flying batman by mere inches!
Urith grunts and reaches into his Alligator leather quiver for another bolt...
"Empty!?"

Then another marksdwarf called Tun comes along and shoots at the batman, missing the batman by meters and Rig's feet by millimeters.

Tun fires another bolt, piercing the batman's wing and hitting Rig in the chest, damaging his lung while Urith screams "No! Hang on!" while Rig's grip is slipping.

Rig's strength can only go so far, and he slips from Alor's grip, falling into the black chasm, carrying the batman with him. "No!" screams Alor, jumping towards the edge, desperate to see any sign of his friend. "Rig!"

"Alor! I... I'm  alive!"

Huh?!

Then Alor's eyes widen in disbelief, and he reaches a hand out and a hand comes out of the darkness but it was not Rig's hand, it was that of a batman clutching the corpse of Rig, apparently he was forced to say "Alor! I... I'm alive!" then throttled to death and he came up with a friend who was laughing manically, and the batman grabbed Alor by the neck while Urist and Tun fired bolts at both batmen, deeply saddened by the loss of Rig, and one of the batmen took Tun by the hair and proceeded to drag her down into the chasm , and she screamed in rage, panic and frear while Urist was trying to stop the loss of another of his friends.

Urist charges at the batman! The batman goes flying!
The batman hits a batman! It is smashed into the body, an unrecognizable mass!
The batman has been struck down.
The batman is hit by the spinning batman! It explodes in gore!

The kobold theif steals the ratman's head!

Gregrush sneaked silently in the bushes, trying to ignore the growling of his stomach.
"Grushnash maggle flashnak blag!" (I could go for a nice roasted ratman head right now)
"Diggle flarg mashkat noggle!" (maybe the dwarf fort over there has some!)
