Skills Max?
« on: March 10, 2015, 07:06:02 am »

Skilles stopped being named each level after legendary, but keep improving beyond that, correct? This means there is no limit on how far i can train my people, yes? So if i trained a vampire for a hundred years, it could be amazing?

I think everything stops after you reach legendary +5, once you get there your skills can't improve further.

It goes easily into the hundreds in Adventure mode but I don't know if there's any increased effect beyond legendary or just after. There's no way to test it in Arena mode to be sure.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that as you go higher, the amount of benefit from each new point of skill diminishes. So you might notice a difference between a skill of 100 and 200, but between 100 and 110 the difference would most likely be negligible. A skill of 20 (Legendary +5) seems to be approaching the point where improvements from adding a single skill rank get hard to notice, so a lot of people/tools treat that like the max.

Yeah, legendary+5 is generally recognized as the highest meaningful skill level. However experiments with a somewhat recent discovery called the shaft of enlightenment which allowed dwarves to easily get to the legendary+80 area of skill seemed to show that there was a meaningful difference between them and legendary+5.

The Shaft isn't exactly recent, except that it was recently fixed.

Oh, well I remember seeing that thread when it was first started so to me that's recent.
