With the release of Valve's Steam Machines approaching...

What do you think the odds of it having a new Half Life game as a title for only it and the PC are?

Maybe but I don't think it'll be the same kind of Half Life we've known.

Hat Life 3
Where instead of weapons, you have a selection of hats with which to shame the aliens into submission.

Somewhat less likely than that the next Half Life game will be for VR. Because Halve might have just taken the lead from Oculus with new hardware.

Basically, they combined a headset with wii controllers and cameras to create a 15x15' holodeck kind of experience.

I highly doubt any sequel to one of their series will be VR-exclusive, especially because their VR seems to require an empty room to play around in... which is not something everything has available.

I'm not ready to make predictions about the upcoming seated-VR vs holodeck-VR gaming wars we may be having in the next few years. But there will absolutely be VR-exclusive games. As for the room, plenty of people play the wii, which also requires cleared space. Yes there are additional complications with Valve's setup. But personally? I'd be willing to throw out a couple pieces of furniture to have a a VR room. I doubt I'm the only one.

Information about HL3 is like spice from Dune. It fuels a vast galactic empire.
