Good Evening Gentleman.
Since I'm not going to make an account on the official forum due to reasons, I will ask my question here. I have recently gotten into a small dilemma. It's a long and interesting story about how I got to this point so I'll write it down first before going to the actual problem.
When the road to the first city was completely overrun I had decided to abandon the city life and head towards this secluded mansion in the middle of the forest that I found on the map. When I arrived I was shocked with what I saw.
The first strange thing that I saw was a pack of 3 zombies that burst out of the windows to attack me. This isn't too mind blowing, merely unorthodox (these would end up being the last zombies that I ever see for a while). When they were dealt with, I headed inside. Things were normal but I kept hearing this horrible crunching sound. When I finally opened the door, my mind was blown. There I saw a river of lava inside the mansion (I had never seen something like that before), but more importantly I saw these new castes of Trifids, most notably the vine beast and the Queen Trifid. To make the Trifids even more interesting, the bottom half of the mansion was almost completely overrun with plant growth. I stayed as long as I could and found plenty of fine wines (ie. sleeping pills), but I only took 3 apple vodkas. Eventually I decided to do the only sensible thing, to burn this hellhole to the ground and stop the Trifid menace once and for all. Unfortunately all I succeeded in was make a single yellow flame.
Disappointed in myself I looked for an uncontaminated room in the mansion, closed the door and tried to fall a sleep in there. Unfortunately despite my numerous attempts, the Triffles outside were too loud. At this point I decided to abandon falling asleep inside this mansion and decide to leave (remember that this mansion is located in the middle of a forest with no city visible for miles). Thank goodness I did because it turns out that my attempts at starting a fire were more successful than I thought. The hallway right outside my room was already ablaze! Wouldn't have taken to long for the rest of the room and myself to perish.
I bolted out of there as quick as I could, as far away from the Trifids as possible. I was now out in the woods alone, in the dark, with no shelter within miles, and trying to fall asleep. Not a pleasant situation to be in. Temperatures were falling and I needed to do something quickly. I then discovered that you could light a fire to fall asleep easier. After failing to fall asleep naturally, I drank an apple vodka and snuggled up.
The next morning I woke up to a gunshot from a fellow survivor. Apparently a giant jumping spider was prepared to give my character an unfortunate demise but this npc rescued me in the nick of time. The Npc's quest involved fighting this horrible beast that had been hunting her down for a while and grateful for her saving my life I accepted this quest. I'm glad I accepted because shortly thereafter, the Jabberwocky appeared. I would not have wanted to fight that thing alone.
After killing it, I decided to go check out how the mansion was doing. I was surprised to see that it was still burning! What surprised me even more was that there seemed to be more Trifids than ever! I then realized that I burned down this wonderful mansion with plenty of loot, food, and living space for no reason. It then began raining and the fire began to die down. Knowing that the Trifids had to come from somewhere I then began to follow the infesting vegetation itself (it was easy since some of it was still on fire) until I reached this place called a Trifid grove. I tried to light it on fire but unfortunately the rain wouldn't let it happen. Since it looked like the grove had a proper entrance, I had to go in through there. There I encountered another caste of Trifid (Trifid Bio-something?).
Hoping that these would be the last ones I need to kill I shot the other Trifids that were guarding the Bio-somethings (the mangrove as a whole was very lightly guarded) and then knifed the Bios to death. They seemed to lack a melee attack which is why I knifed them rather than shoot them. Unfortunately, despite the Bios being dead my journey still wasn't over. After killing the last Bio, I discovered this staircase that lead down stairs to this dungeon. The first thing that I saw after turning a corner was vine beasts completely covering every single tile in the hallway. I think there were 10 of them. After failing to land a single hit 4 turns in a row, we have now arrived at my dilemma,
Should I abandon my attempts at eradicating the Trifid menace now and return later, or should I pull out my gun and just shoot my way through the dungeon (I have 50 bullets left in my gun)? I would like minimal spoilers if possible. When I tried to Google a solution myself, everything had spoiler warnings, so I decided to ask on the thread instead.
Also, I would like to give the Devs my sincerest compliments for making such a cool game.
