[SG] 29th Annual Hunger Games - On the Train
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:22:12 pm »

Welcome, Tribute, to the 29th Annual Hunger Games!

So, this is a Suggestion game, based off of the Hunger Games series. I have set the time to the distant past, so no rebellion yet. Anyway, to start this off, I need someone to fill out the following:

Spoiler: Character Sheet (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Districts (click to show/hide)

After you fill that out, I'll give a breif description of who you are. Then I will start you out after the reaping. You will be able to interact with the other tributes, train, or otherwise do anything the heck you want. After several days of that, you will be put in the arena and fight to the death. If you die in the arena, (or beforehand, if you do something stupid) you will create a new Character and the process will start over.

Everything here will simulated with a D20, along with my judgement.

Now, let the games begin....

((I decided not to skip the train ride and the other workings of the pre-game, mainly because of the RP oportunities...
Also, you guys rolled dang good on a bunch of things. This could get interesting.))

Zach Brody is fairly muscular, for his age. He worked with the cattle of District 10, so he had to be. The constant herding and butchering of the cattle was what his life consisted of. His family was a rich one, for the district, his father being the head of the Cattle industry. His life of luxury changed dramatically, though, at this years reapings.

Everything was normal. You got in line, had your blood drawn, and counted your odds. You never had to get any Tesserae, so the odds of you getting picked were low, in compairison to others. 4 times, you had it in. 4 out of the over 10,000 that were being reaped. Those odd are good.

"Ladies first!" Pipes the announcer. The lady up front dips her witch-like fingernails into the glass bowl, audibly scraping them along the sides of the bowl. The entire audience holds their breath as she twirls her fingers through the bowl. Finally, after what seems like forever, but was probably only a few seconds, she grabs a slip and reads it.

"Ros Kilstien!" Everyone breaths a sigh of relief. A solitary cry is heard from the crowd, and Ros, a girl of only 12, slowly begins to walk up to the podium.

The process repeats, and you hold your breath. This is it, the moment of truth. The paper comes out of the bowl, and gets read.

"Zach Brody!"

What? Did you hear that right? You see others looking at you, urging you to move. You see yourself begin to move, but you cant tell if you are being pushed or if you're walking of your own accord. You hear your heart beating in your chest, and feel yourself beginning to fade.

No. You cant black out now. Not now, while everyone is watching. You force yourself to walk, and barely make it to the stand, before the announcer grabs your hand and raises it. You vaguely hear people clapping, and then the anthem. Afterwards, you get brisquely sent off into the capital building.

Just as you think you're beginning to feel a little bit better, your family rushes in. Your mother immediately bursts into tears, and your sister tries to console you. Your father is giving advice. He says that you should never underestimate your enemy, that you need to stay away from people, and that you should never, ever eat anything you dont recognise.

Is there anything you want to say while with your family for what coul be the last time?

You quickly stand up, getting over your stupor. You need to be strong for your family. For your mother especially, she was never very strong.

"Mom, stop crying. I'll be back, dont worry."

Unfortunately, your attempts to console her dont go over as planned. Upon hearing you say you're coming back, she starts a new wave of tears. Your father brushes her off and continues to give you advice.

"Ignore her, we dont have much time. When at the cornucopia, dont go for the middle. You know how many die trying that. Its not worth the risk. Get something on the outskirts, and run. After that, go-"

A guard bursts through the door and interupts him. "Times up." Two more guards come through and start pulling your family away. Your sister pulls away at the last minute and hugs you. As she pulls away, you can feel her hand in your pocket. A guard roughly pulls her away, and the door closes. You hear your mother crying as they are escorted out.

No one else visits you. You werent exactly a popular person. About 15 minutes later, a guard comes through and escorts you to the car. Ros is already there, along with the anouncer, who you learn is named Poppy Milton. Ros' eyes look as if she has been crying recently. The drive to the station takes about 15 minutes, and the roads are littered with cameras, no doubt broadcasting the reaping live to the Capital. As you embark on the train, your Mentor greets you. As you four are ushered into the train, you breath a sigh of relief as the camera's are no longer on you.

At least the ones you can see.

There are a number of things to do on the train, and almost everything is open to you. It would probably be wise to probe your Mentor for tips though. Or you could watch the recaps of the reapings of other districts.

First of all, we're definitely going to go to the cornucopia, because 23 other people have also been told not to go to it.
Check what our sister stuck in our pocket.

You dig your hand into your pocket and pull out a crystal of some sort. The tip is quite sharp, but luckily its also pretty small, so you might be able to smuggle it into the arena. You remember seeing it in your sisters hand a couple days ago. She said she found it out in a field, but you somehow think that unlikely.

Put it back, fast. We don't want cameras catching it, and if it's found, we need to look like we didn't know.

((Nah, avoid the Cornucopia. Careers take over, and plenty of kids ignore what they're told and run in.))
