[SG] Creation of the world #1
« on: March 07, 2015, 02:04:16 am »

You are one of the deities that can influence on the world.
At the start of the game world is nothing but rectangular-shaped ocean with basic forms of life e.a. saprophytes or simplest algea.
Each deity has its own aspect that give it some special restrictions and possibilities. There is also the main resource - energy.
Players post actions in the thread with amounts of energy they wish to spend on it. More energy - more dramatic success will come.
All players have some energy income at the start, but it will be decreasing. Another source of energy income are created species (but it depends significantly on aspect) and later worship of intelligent races.
The setting is a bit fantasy. Magic does exist.

Current map (turn #3).
End of turn 19:00 GMT 3/18/2015

One of them is nothing but obsidian. Another is yellow candy desert full of cactopods. The biggest one is surrounded by huge colonies of seaweed which make ecosystems with fishes. Pink plants are coming from the water to die. Another lay down long tubes for water support. And the earth is covered by rotten fruits and berries.
Trees are having hard time here resisting the winds and growing on poor soil.
First intelligent plants are trying to make their civilization.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Yes, maybe.
I'm going to give you some specialization, so I need to know what sphere you prefer.
For example, I can give you bonus in actions that increase adaptation of a race to environment. If one player spends 20e for teaching race of making cloth to survive winters, you can get same effect for 10e for example. However, there is no guarantee the race will get use of that knowledge.

You might want to explain your system a bit so that players can understand what they can and can't do.

How about this, Aspect: Societal Order? Refinement and Improvement.

Refinement and Improvement.
That's great.

About system.
The game usually has 3 stages.
1. Landscaping. Defining the territories where future civilization will live.
2. Non-intelligent life. Plants, animals and so on. This creates environment end resources for future civs.
3. Civilizations. A set of races trying to find their way in existing world.
These stages are not explicit. But you simply not have enough energy to create intelligent life from scratch.
There are two main ways to create species: modify existing and create new. The second one is more expensive. You have to decide on your own how much to spend, but the principles are:
- more significant changes - more expensive it is
- more energy spent - grater chance for success.
For example, destroying file is very significant change and 10e for this purpose will result in 2% killed organisms.
In late game main source of energy are the civs. When civ is created it knows only the creator and brings him about 10% of their energy potential (which depends on population). Other players may influence on their life and get their part. It's like election process. xD But mortals not vote for who they like, but for who they respect. The goal is not to take the majority but having fun.
There will be also some 'seeds' that give you ability to make some predefined actions for free. Pencil_Art will get few seeds of plant life which I believe create the base for others to modify.
The game is turn based. And some turns may have special bonuses like 1 free seed of animal life.

P.S. It would be great if we have someone to paint all that stuff.
