I'm in support of any twist that makes this game come back from the unburied dead!

Also, no worries indeed.
Obj will be away till October (if I'm not mistaken) c: He's busy working on RL stuffs! \o/

...In the meantime, any discussion on how to make the FATE system work well on PbP/Forum gaming?

One big dis/advantage that comes to mind is:
Forum posts have a lot of space for detail given the communication system (typing/words), but lack the quick/subtle interaction in RL games.

Yeah that's the main thing I'm worried about.

By which I mean, the only thing which really worries me is deciding when to use FATE points.
PM it? Put it as an addendum?

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

It could be a good idea to check out other forums where Fate is played.

One of the best ones I've seen is this:
http://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/184661/star-wars-pbp-the-fate-of-the-rebellion-ic-ooc-fit-has-hit-the-shan
(actual play starts at page 6)

But they put OOC stuff inside the IC thread for these purposes, in spoiler tags. I don't know if people would rather not do that. (also that forum has a die roller which I'm not sure makes much difference). The GM usually asks after a not-so-good roll if anyone wants to use a free invoke/fate point. Even if he already "narrated" the result, the player can decide to change it by spending the fate point.

Oh. My. Goodness. A simple solution overlooked @_@ That is PERFECT for communication there! Just interspace the OOC in spoilers within each post! :D

A diceroller would be good too.
GM dicerolling and then either waiting around for the person to ask for a second roll, or having to go back and edit a previous post with the new roll/results thereof would be annoying.

Seconding letting players roll themselves.

Seconding spoilered OOC when necessary.

Seconding getting this show on the road again.

Hmm, the honor system of letting players roll though...
Not that I don't trust myself.

However, GM post between each seperate player post seems to work well.
I think we might need to drop the standard B12 convention of few posts-lots text-no doubles to work it though.

An external dice log could be used, I think. Most of them require registration (at least for the logging part), but one that supports Fate dice and allows a comment (so we don't "retcon" what we were rolling for) would be nice.

I believe 4dF is the same as 4d3-8 for rollers that don't have Fate dice.

Some I've heard of are:
http://dicelog.com
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/

It would be cool if only the "dice room" admin needed to register and could give out a room password to his players. No clue if these sites do that or require every player to have an user ???

The ideal solution obviously would be to have an inline dice roller, I'm sure many other play-by-post games in this forum would benefit, but that also means extra work for Toady and also I have no idea about SMF plugins or even if there are any good ones.

I'm.... going to resist the urge to pick this up again. Plus, I want to make my own character. Why not.

Yeah, I'd just use Roll20 or something.
But still, something something accountability.

Also, I want this to be back, so hurry up and finish your schoolworks.

Are you going to take over as a GM or not, Tack?

Not trying to insinuate anything, it's just not 100% clear to me.

Far as I'm aware, no. S'not right for me to jump in and nick all of Cinder's work out from under 'em.
Plus I never actually got given the GM notes.
