Well, it could be worse. If Objective wanted to be really cruel, we'd be locked in a room with mirrored walls.

Mirrors are going to be a plot point, at some point.

Mrs. Plenty's carnival reference?
I liked that mirror area! They helped with nightmares :P

But yeah ._.
Here's some teaser questlines that I doodled up during class:

Case of the Somniferous Slicer

Although the two are not on the best of terms, the Department of Menace Eradication occasionally take in work from the Constables in matters too dangerous for the gentlemen in blue. This month, London is being terrorised by a mysterious figure known as the Somniferous Slicer. Unlucky citizens and certain detectives have been finding themselves sliced into pieces in their sleep. The killer never broke in, but instead attacked through their dreams.

Some say that it means Jack-of-Smiles has managed to get his hands on a cache of red honey.

A Fungal Dirigible

A gigantic, floating fungus is said to be on a path towards London. Those sent to investigate never returns.

Of Zee and Zewers

A bold group of rats and L. B. have taken over an old watchtower near the Wolfstack Docks. Rats are seen digging a channel towards the shores. They're building their own docks, they say. Mr. Fires is nor amused with their refusal to pay the trade taxes for all the goods they have been smuggling with the Zee rats, using the watchtower as their base of operation. It's time to teach them a lesson.

The Belching Baritone

A concert of some nature has been ongoing for nearly two days now in the Bugsby Marshes. Nobody actually know where the quiet, inhuman singing came from, but they are indeed very catchy. Singing the lyrics also cause the skins of nearby people to flake off painfully.

It is probably just a nuisance. Hardly a job fit for an Eradication Officer, which is why you are being assigned.
-_-
These are all great! D:
But some require a degree of knowledge--which I hope will be represented in-game like:
Quote
Red Honey
{Gentlemanly description}
{Elocution, ahoy!}

I mean, even those presented in brevity look great. The Dirigible looks like a transport which can bring us anywhere, or there's something about fungus which makes the Neath so mysterious. I'm unsure.

Oh, sorry, I had trouble figuring out what red honey did, too.

The thing is, people are not supposed to know what it does, however. They just know that it does evil dream-related things.

Also a dirigible is an airship. Of course, the fungus isn't a literal dirigible.

I know! :D
The only experiences in-game in Fallen London (add me as an acquaintance anyone? :P Same name here.) are...with opportunity cards. They're basically transports, as far as I understand them. :-\
...And that's all I understand from them.

I've only ever played Sunless Sea, so I know about the Uttershroom and red honey, but know pretty much nothing about parabola.

Not quite. I won't say much, because spoilers, but let's just say mirrors do a few things aside from reflect, in the Neath.

Technically, I'm pretty sure that mirror just plain teleports you into the river.

Well, death in the Neath is more of a minor annoyance than anything permanent. And for the record, that's not quite what I was talking about in regards to mirrors being unusual. I won't spoil it, though; it's a pretty massive plot point.

I hope I'm not going too fast with the pacing. I'm probably breaking so many rule of realism here, but really, who cares about bureaucracy?

Uh, so so I'm not making a Faux pas, Mrs Plenty doesn't sell comic books or anything yeah?
'Cos again, I dunno Fallen London, so I'm kinda just going off 1830's mythpunk for everything else.

I don't think it really says anything to the contrary, so you might be able to find sine comics there.

Fallen London's setting predate comic books by more than half a century, so the confusion is justified.

On the other hand it's just a tiny anachronism so I'll allow it.
