The troops disembark onto a rocky area strewn with fallen trees.
Not far away, we spot a canister of meld. We send Wind over to collect it.
The rest of the troops keep scouting the area. We can hear movement from near the crash site.
Wind collects the meld without any issues, and moves to rejoin the rest of the squad
More sounds to our right
But a pack of Sectoids was lurking to the left!!
Maelle lands a shot in oversized head of one of them, getting first blood for the mission
The rest of the squad moves to cover and prepares for the aliens to move in
Maelle ducks as one fires at her. Meanwhile, the other sectoid moves up on the squad
Bruciare decides that an explosive would solve that problem quite nicely
With that alien down, Wind is free to move up and fire a burst into the last sectoid
While doing so, she spots another meld canister. I give her the go-ahead to move in on it
Meanwhile, the rest of the squad reloads and starts heading towards the crash site. We keep hearing sectoids over there.
Once again, Wind grabs the meld in time and starts heading back to the rest of the troops
The squad soon comes across the crashed ship
And the group of sectoids that we kept hearing
Maelle tags one of them as the rest of the squad tries to get into position
Krauss throws some smoke down to keep as many people covered as possible
Her own position is rather exposed, but she keeps her head down enough to avoid being shot
We also spot the aliens doing their psychic boosting. Fortunately it doesn't seem to help it much.
Villiams ghosts one of them as it tries to reposition on us
And Krauss keeps her head down to avoid any more incoming fire
Maelle returns fire, taking out yet another of the aliens
But we get into a stalemate situation with the last one. We can't seem to hit it, half the squad can't see it, and it keeps us pinned with overwatch
Wind volunteers to try dashing out to draw its fire. She makes it, but suffers some burns in the process.
Not in vain, though. Bruciare is able to move up to flank it, which spooks it into running out into our overwatch. Raven takes it down.
Maelle then patches up Rain, we reload, and start moving most of the squad around to breach the ship
Inside we find the outsider. Vahlen and Shen are amazed, of course. I try not to let on that I knew exactly what we'd be seeing.
Bruciare performs a perfect flank on it, badly damaging the construct.
Krauss flashbangs it to keep it from being too much of a threat
But both Raven and Wind manage to finish it off before it even matters
A very successful first capture of a downed alien vessel!
We captured both an intact Power Source and Flight Computer, in addition to the rest of the materials. A good start indeed!
The damaged unit is sold, of course
