Its a VERY hard comparison (for me anyway) :I
General +5 to stats given the lacking editing of personnel...or a PERMANENT +1 to MOVE for EVERYONE.
Sorry about caps.

...I am very much leaning on the bonus to move given how nightmarish it was, having slow operatives on an Impossible LW game.
The Chryssalids will tear you apart...faster!
but GAH. Hard decisions. :-\

I shall be an ass suggest something out of left wing just to see what people think:
How about we go with Japan and Ghost in the Shell Machine?

If we do, may I request to take one of the SHIVs that we get from this bonus:
Name: "Search()" Thunder-1 (in other words, just tack on the nickname and keep the original SHIV designation)
Gender: AI
Nationality: XCOM
Appearance: Default, unless there are new customisation options.

Preferred class: SHIV
Preferred weapon: Superheavy Plasma, of course, but the heaviest SHIV weapons you've researched.
Preferred equipment: Battle Computer + Holotargeter + Adaptive Tracking Pod
Preferred tactics: Suppress aliens and blood traitors, overwatch when situation calls for it. Not the designated tank.

Sign me up as myself again.

I don't care about the build. Just pick for me.

I did consider that as a viable option due to the reference it had to many very nice things but then the greater utility would always come first before the lesser, yet more fashionable idea.

Meph! Can Jim be a mech which punches aliens and acts like a Guardian, able to take many blows like they were nothing? :D

Eh, fair point. Although I find SHIVs to be rather handy early on.

The starting S.H.I.V.s would be grand, but I am allergic to taking a permanent economic advantage when I could have a small increase in theoretical maximum potential that will likely never be attained due to insufficient funds.

Duuuuuuude, don't take the free robots, they be useless endgame. Think of the endgame man!

The theory is that a stronger start will give you an initial advantage that propels you into a stronger endgame.

That said, unless you're using the SHIVs *solely* as a plasma sponge, I think you'd be better off with building the Japan bonus supersoldier into a debuff machine and letting rookies mooch off kills than taking SHIVs who are more like space fillers that don't get promotions.

I wouldn't take either one for this campaign, anyway.

Looks like Australia still has the most votes. I'll see about getting the game started and the first mission done shortly. Then we can see about our initial roster and getting everyone's soldiers in as best we can.

Now I wonder if there's any scope to mod SHIVs to gain XP and promotions, lol.

But oh well. They'd be too strong if that was the case, and plasma sponge is already their designated callsign.
