The squad sets down in the streets. This place looks just like I remember it. A war zone.
The troops quickly move up to secure the building, and Kaos can just see the dim shapes of Thin Men lurking in the darkness. They haven't spotted us yet, though, so we start moving into position.
Once we are as in position as we can get the troops move up to engage.
Vector couldn't get a good sniper spot without moving, but she manages to tag one with her pistol anyway.
It gets taken out by the rest of the squad.
His friend proves a harder target
So Jack keeps him suppressed with rapid assault rifle fire.
He fires back but his aim is too hampered to hit anything.
More Thin Men move in to support, and we get stuck in a protracted firefight with them. Not my favorite tactic against those caustic fiends.
Seekers! Blast! We'd forgone any scanners in favor of more med kits to combat the acid. With the mech arrivial the rest of the Thin Men scamper off into the darkness.
As Jack tags a thin man the seekers open fire, wounding Kaos. (Cheating computer, they just activated!!)
Greene, of course, doesn't need scanners to deal with Mech.
Wind makes a bold move to climb up to the rooftop and flank the Thin Man hanging out up there. It pays off as he exploding in a shower of gunshot and acid.
Kaos patches himself up and the squad readies to deal with the Thin Men when they return.
Mace gets a hit on one as it moves up to engage, and Wind finds herself pinned down in a very vulnerable position by plasma fire
Vector's got her back, though.
Kaos lays down some suppressive fire and orders Wind to return to the squad
The firefight continues, but we're giving far worse than we're taking.
Vector and Mace finally take out the last of the Thin Men and the squad takes a bit to regroup, reload, and patch up some wounds.
With the area currently secure, the squad advances towards the site of the ambush.
Ah, this bastard. Maybe Vahlen will make him talk more this time? I guess we'll see. But we need to get him out alive, first.
Right on cue, the Thin Men start dropping down...next to Vector! Sniper, you need to get the hell out of there!
She quickly drops off the edge of the building and runs for some better cover. You know, Shen never has explained to me what gear lets our soldiers drop like that without breaking any bones...
The squad repositions for this new threat. Getting our captive out alive just got a lot harder.
A sectoid drops down to join the fun. It...doesn't go so well for the little bastard.
Kaos and Raven fill the air with lead while Wind moves around to try and flank the aliens
But Kaos takes a nasty hit from one of them. Which they follow up with a spray of Acid. Man, they really don't like him.
Greene tries to pull off a very tricky rocket shot against the Thin Men clustered on the roof, but doesn't manage to do more than shatter a few windows. This does force the Thin Men off the roof, though, which is rather helpful.
Wind has a bit more luck clearing out the left flank.
The firefight continues as the Thin Men try to move up to take out Kaos while our soldiers stay determined to drive them back.
It gets a little tense as one moves up right next to his cover
But we manage to take that one out and give Kaos enough time to throw down a smoke screen
More fire incoming from the Thin Men.
Vector takes a nasty hit and hunkers down behind the turret of the APC. She really prefers
long Engagement ranges.
Wind splatters her attacker, but gets sprayed with acid in the process.
Kaos is back in the fight with some good old fashioned suppressive fire and the firefight rages on
Slowly thinning the herd.
Vector patches herself up while Greene starts escorting our prisoner around the now secure left flank.
More Acid on Kaos, although that won't stop him from laying down the suppression
And yet more Thin Men from the skies. Now they're
behind as well. Great. Greene, get that prisoner to the Skyranger on the double!
Wind is back in action and splatters another Thin Man
We start repositioning a few troops to deal with the new threat, and Quartz gets a blast of Plasma for our troubles.
Meanwhile, Wind slides under some plasma fire of her own to take out the last rooftop alien.
With our way forward clear Mace and Raven hold off the Thin Man long enough for the Prisoner to get to the skyranger.
With him secure, we ice the last alien and head home.
