<<Gwolf, I'm pretty sure you are already, by definition, insane>>

"So I've noticed. Anyway, I don't expect you to be moving around anytime soon, given what happened, so I'll give you a brief summary of what happened since you fell. Basically, Murdoc came out with a rescue team to help heal people, a band of goblin survivors showed up, and that's about it. Oh, and I think someone collected some ichor or whatever the stuff is."

Patham's Construct sits up again, then spouts a slightly garbled version of both Mayor and Priest's words in the goblin language.

The ash-filled rain picks up again, thundering down to create puddles of grim slush. The hollow does not yet seem to be in danger of filling, and the ash-rain is too viscous to flood from any distance, at least in these quantities.

Chaotic notices a little sprout in the ground next to him. It seems to be growing far more quickly than usual, visibly spreading pale tendrils into the gravel, extending bright leaves towards the Woundbinders' lamp. Also notably, it is of no genotype he recognizes.

((Nor the required computer capacity to register almost 5 billion different chunks of gene code. And thats just for normal things. Crossbreeding would take 2x that, plus a whole bunch of chunks to make sure no parts make a paradox. I.E. Tail is 3 inches, tail is a foot. This would compose of probably about 50 million strands and would cause the resulting animal to have all kinds of issues.))

"I would explain fully, but I don't have the time to do so and it sounds rather outlandish even in my head, but I will tell you that I'm not of the typical dwarven sort. I've spent a great deal of time studying many things; if my speech is archaic, it is likely because I picked it up from dusty old books." The Homelander regretted the lie, but it was simpler than explaining the truth to someone who would likely deem him a dangerous madman.

"I would hesitate to thank me until we've dealt with the feudal lord here, however. I do not know how he will react to my offer of shelter; he happens to be much more traditional than myself. I will do my best to ensure the safety of you and yours, but in the eyes of the majority here, his authority supersedes my own."

With the dam work in order, get together a group of dam workers and see if the elevator and staircase are still intact, and, more to the point, see if there is anything left of the upper fortress.
