[Glorious Totalitarian Dorfland has three millennia of experience dealing with Moody dwarves, and a steady supply of useless wounded. After the first few Macabres, you can guess what they decided.]

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

((I wish I actually had an idea of what to blow a strange mood on, unless it was like, nuclear fusion which we can't do unless Amp is feeling incredibly generous for whatever reason.))

[You'd need to have some perquisite knowledge to even try, is the issue. My view is that you can't mood something if you don't at least have the basics of the technology. You could go from functional steam engines and dwarven clocktech to reasonably-advanced steampunk, for instance, but you can't jump from magnifying glasses to a photonic singularity engine.]

[I mean, unless it's a magical artifact, I don't really see the point, but okay.]

[An example technology that's only really one mood and some minor research away is the atomic bomb. The only thing you really need aside from ongoing metals refining research, assuming Elagn has the basic idea of their mechanical function, is some way of separating atoms of different weight. That would let you get a higher concentration of U-235, and gun-type nukes are simple as shit from that point. Roughly the same technology would let you isolate Deuterium, which is a major step towards fusion.]

Hmm. . . Double moods into cold fusion? :P))

[Certainly. Pretty much every mood thus far has been underused, and I view it as much easier to get a single-shot artifact working than to upgrade your entire knowledge base. It could even be more than that.]

[I'm not sure about the whole cold fusion thing, and would view a functional technology using conventional fusion as much easier. You could get a technical fusion reactor easily enough with a couple more moods after atom bombs, what with the Teller-Ulam design being basically a single-shot fusion power core.]

((At that point we're running out of moods, though, as afaik we'd only have 2? active, non-mooded dwarves. Unless I die and am reincarnated or something.))

[Dwarves can have more than one mood, you just only get one to use at player discretion. You can expect invuluntary moods to be inconvenient. But yes, that is an issue. The moods are more a concession to Dwarf Fortress itself, and a neat bit of canon that needs better explaining, than an intended major gameplay mechanic of this in particular.]

[If you turn the magical bottomless bag inside out, it dumps the contents and works, but with the other part being the inside. Pretty useful if you were, say, carrying ten thousand gallons of water and needed to put out a fire very quickly.]

I DO know fairly advanced mechanics for enhanced nuclear warheads, but that is beside the point. It would only be under fairly great duress that I would be willing to build them in this world. I would be happy to help with construction of nuclear power facilities, but not to make explosives.

Be somewhat interested in the bag, but not overly. Continue work on the dam, installing doors, floodgates, current turbines, and whatever elce it is ready for.
