It has been determined that Trump is an average unladen swallow travelling northbound at his maximum sustainable speed of -3 Obama-cubits per second in the middle of a class 3 hurricane.

*in a voice absolutely flooding the room with concentrated sarcasm*
"Yes, that is COMPLETELY impossible." >:(

"Don't remember living there?  Where do you remember living?"

"Not more than your average fort!  Of course, that benchmark is already RIDICULOUSLY high!  So, technically, no!  Nothing is dangerous here!  Except the black powder!  And the pitchblende!  And everyone else!  And the absurd number of problems with the local thaumic background!  And the bloody-mindedness of the local spatial topology when it comes to wormholes!  We haven't even had a--You know what, not going to finish that because I bet within SECONDS of my uttering the words, a -- Ack!  Almost did!  But I bet you can guess what it is!  Narrativium can bloody well go bother someone else, someWHERE else, someWHEN else!"

"Agh.  Give me a second.  Need to catch my... breath.  And... my sanity."

((Also, in order, *mysterious *threw *pointing))
Black powder? What in Armok's name is black powder?
I mean, I probably should know what it is, but I've been most of the days that I had memory walking around the mountains carrying a dead guide in my back.

{The question is trapping it in a cage. Whereas, say, hitting it in the face with a hammer until it falls over, then dragging it into the main holding cell for later examination is a lot simpler. We wouldn't have stationary cage traps for things this size, it's too small for a real FB, but too big for normal cave fauna.}

"Mate, Black Powder is the weapon of the immediate future. It's sort of like smelly black grains that explode violently when you light them on fire. Great fun, and you can build some amazing weapons with it."

"Don't be anywhere near a keg of the stuff with fire, though.  It will explode and you could probably explode with it."

"In other news, Amp, I found something interesting out about this world as I was trying things to fix things.  Just casually, even.  Not only is the just about everything seriously out of whack, but the world has extreme Narrativium concentrations.  Any clue what could be causing that?  Because it shouldn't be this high, unless this world secretly has a turtle flying through space under it."

If we tame it, sure.  If I run into it in combat and panic, all bets are off.  Because magic.
All the same, no dibsing something that might not even be HERE.

{Word of GM supports you two finding it alive and co-training the thing. Suffice it to say that the elevator isn't currently operational, but less than an hour of work'll fix that. Or you could wait a few weeks, let the unintentional hole where the stairs used to be get sealed while we dig another staircase in a nearby pillar.}

*work continues on fixing up the elevator*
I accidentally drop a wrench while working on top of the elevator, making an echoing clang noise sound in the caverns as it hits the fortress floor.

{No moving time forward other than for conversation until tomorrow, and GMdibs on describing the Skalewyrm when we find it.}

{Okay, so by co-train the thing, I mean I have two magic-munchkins and I'm not letting only one of you have carte blanche command of a nigh-invulnerable dragon-snake-eldritchhorror, so you're sharing control. Blaze, we have to find it because even if it's still in the cell we put it in, said cell is under at least fifty tonnes of unstable, unpredictably turbosharp rubble.}

In the past, talking to Pyrefly;

{By the by, and this applies to everyone, you can always have RP happening in two different times/places at once if it makes sense.}

"Given that most sentient beings who aren't psychopaths have trouble with killing other sentients, well... Mostly I'm just wondering if you'll break down during real battles. Be honest, I'd truly rather have one, well, friend I suppose, who isn't also borderline sociopathic."

The present;

{Since Net already moved on to another place, we'll talk narrativium later}

"You get rooms, at least once this whole draft-everybody thing's over. 'Till then, the barracks are structured so you can get pretty acceptable privacy, and unlike most places your bunks and the training areas are actually separate."

The armored dwarf leads you through a clearly marked door, shows your group which area of the barracks they'll be using, and moves on to the armory.

"Most of you will probably get muskets for the foreseeable future, but if you want to use anything in particular, we're short on specialists."

He points you to a large rack of the weapons Sarvesh had, most with broad knives mounted under the barrel like oddly-shaped spears. The other shelves, though, are filled with quite a variety of weapons and armor, some of it familiar, swords and maces, some of it very odd looking. A pair of big crossbows, with a two-inch-wide trough rather than a bolt groove, sit next to bandoliers of finned copper cylinders, obviously intended to fire from them. Axes with short, fat metal tubes mounted along the back, presumably another variant of these "Muskets".  Stranger things, only identifiable by their labels; "Revolvers", "Stubgonnes", "Demolition charges", "Autocannon spares", "Danger, high voltage".

"You, the talkative one, you said you're already a passable marksman? Want to be the 'scoper?"

The odd dwarf offers you a far more complex "Musket", with a miniature telescope on the top and an unusual mechanism, like the "Revolvers" had, around the base of the barrel.

"You can hurt things more from farther away, you get more shots, and it'll help your friends know who to shoot if they don't die when you hit them. Name's Amp, by the way."

{Is anyone having trouble reading my weird blue text? I can mess with it if need be.}
