[I can go into RP mode, but a very basic inquiry, along with some situational awareness your character has but you don't have reason to because of my shitty transferrance of information, would reveal that magic lessons look super neat, and you're teaching them in the same (admittedly large) room as about thirty other people are currently living. The Priest is less "That looks neat" and more "Wow huh this guy has some ideas about magic I haven't run into before", since you're teaching industrialized-technomancy era magic, and he's basically a really savvy shamanic/tradition-based caster.]

Continue making sure Gwolf won't hurt anybody if he goes insane, and preferably that he won't go insane.

While it is standard procedure to keep a watch on dwarves who have entered a Strange Mood and seem likely to create an artifact or other object of unusual properties, such as especially skilled craftsdwarves with a "Really good idea" or writers who "can't get it out of their heads", the watch is frequently assigned to some of the calmer children of the fort, or to a wounded soldier.

Seemingly out of empathy for the anomalous plight of Gwolfski, Magus Patham ensures that his needs will instead be handled by a Settler Foreman, promising much more competent assistance. And, presumably by accident, a thorough barrier against the more absurd excesses that some craftsmen fall, unnecessarily, into.
