The dwarf lord produces his document from a saddlebag, and throws it easily to you. A cursory reading suggests that everything is in order, and he looks quite impatient.

"You will allow my entrance. I tolerate your justified paranoia for now, but I have my limits."

[He will legitimately take the fortress by force if you try to keep him outside.]

"Indeed.  It looks right, I guess.  Hold on, I have to go actually open the gates now..."
Do that.

The gathered force files through the narrow iron gates, seeming to take far too long to finish, before the gates are allowed to slam to behind them. The area behind the walls, once seeming almost oversized, is barely large enough to hold them all. There is even a small force of goat  cavalry with the secondary troops, and the peasants brought a herd of various livestock.

Next to their neatly regimented lines, fine armor, and small horde of laborers, the defenders of the fortress seem bedraggled and few, unwashed, armor dented, their ramparts and weapons bearing the scars of hard use.

The Homelanders, with the now-recovered Commander Sarvesh and his five remaining real soldiers, descend from the walls to talk with this new Lord, their places guarding the walls quickly taken by a  contingent of the elite troops.

"I find myself impressed that you managed to hold this place against a necromancer, with so few grunts, and such inept handling of casualty limits."

"It would not have been good, yes."

He seems to have something different in mind than you.

Behind him, the new peasants begin filing into the fortress proper, while some of them remain behind to unpack the wagons and settle the livestock in for the night. The soldiers are rapidly setting up tents on the battered courtyard floor.

Abscond.  Start cleaning up Gwolfski's nonsense.  Lock my lab door.

As Magus Patham attempts to leave for the confines of his lab, the Lord grabs him by the arm.

"You seem to be the spokesperson. Someone must provide me with records and access to your research areas."

The guards around him draw swords at this hint of violence.

It occurs to you that these are a different sort of dwarves than the original settlers here. Those were disillusioned veterans and the sort of folk who prefer to live far from centers of power. These are feudal serfs and a lord's personal guard, probably a hereditary post itself by now.

Remove arm from grip.
"Spokesperson?  Ha.  I merely talk far too much.  I will see about getting our various records in some coherent format, but quite frankly, it will take a while.  Even with manpower to take care of everything else that needs doing, it's a jumbled mess of independent work and I do have my own projects which need tending.  It might be best to ask for the records individually.  And I honestly don't trust anyone here, despite any track record of failing to go up in a cloud of steam from their own... But I digress, not to have bad things happen without proper safety training.  Which, again, varies depending on what you are dealing with."

"Ah. Poor record keeping is a crime, but a minor one, and can be forgiven in the circumstances. You will then show me the places of work, and any functional weapons you have developed."

"Again, it's highly recommended that you undergo proper safety training, but as it basically amounts to 'don't touch anything'...

It's not poor, just highly decentralized."

The Lord heads for the fortress proper, a small group of his guards in tow. It is likely better that someone go with him.

In the distant east, another buzzing pulse of hate and power surges up from the background.

[This guy's the feudal lord of the fort, which includes the players. He basically expects to have his orders followed, and, mostly, will.]

{Aight, I must away for reasons of LEARNSHITWOO, so anybody else who wants to talk to the newcomers or the Lord or whatever, can do so. I may be some time. Don't get into a huge goddamn pointless argument, nobody wants that.}

Relieve Fish of his duty, if he is alright with it, so he can go analyze the surge. Show soldiers to the barracks proper, and hand over the records of the orders I'd given out previously.

"I'm Foreman Murdoc, milord. (I suppose that's how I'm supposed to address him.) I've been doing my best to keep this place from falling into shambles. . . not that I've been particularly successful, but I've tried. I've kept a few records in my office, nothing extensive, but it should be enough information for the time being.

Also, there's a Forgotten Beast in the basement; we've managed to get it to something approaching friendly, but I recommend not bothering it, given that it's a massive steel dragon that breathes hot plasma."
