Skies and Gwolf set off on another quick teatime expedition to the underground river, bringing the chief engineer along for insight and in case of attack.

"I'm sure you've noticed there's a war in the works. Most of my kin have decided upon demigods or emperors for their chiefest of vassals. I felt that with the coming changes, I had better get ahead of the curve and pick one of you newcomers, especially since you were so conveniently in range. Don't worry, we can get you up to their level quickly enough. You're a dwarf, that gives you an advantage in my service."

Foreman Murdoc doesn't particularly care about that distinction.

Foreman Murdoc heads to the library Four Masked Wolf constructed last year. There aren't terribly many books, since the things are quite expensive, but perhaps there will be something. Along the way, he notes a pair of the injured, local and merchant, assembling a simple ballista. Somebody really should get around to trading with the merchants.
