Despite ongoing foolishness, Gwolf and Porky manage to avoid getting themselves killed, as yet, though Porky has been trapped in a barrel.

Chaotic Skies has quite finished the hydroelectric dam's blueprint draft, and goes to discuss it with the local engineers.

"Can you haul this guy down to the cells for a bit?  And by a bit, I mean about a month or so.  He's long overdue."

He turns to the priest again.
"Except it really isn't, because there's just something WRONG if there's this little ambient magic."

The guards take the swearing barrel down to the cells.

"What possible downside could there be to crippling those things of the night and foul warlocks who exploit magic against us?"

"Hmmm.  Is there a metal called adamantine in this world?

Because, well, if there is, and the magic goes poof, we're in trouble.  Massive collapses of everything and all."

"You live amongst Dwarves! Have you never seen the boasting of their king? They view this 'Adamantine' as sacred, I would have thought its presence obvious."

{Adamantine/Slade have physical properties. They're somewhat anomalous, but they don't rely upon magic to take place. The same applies to runically altered objects, once the alteration is complete. Or at least that's my thought on the matter.}

{EGP?  Additionally, candy has genuinely absurd physical properties. A wall of unnaturally-strong stone that I view as stretched-out Slade, laced with adamantine threads, would likely be able to hold up a very great deal of stone.}
