I lean over the table, watching you two work with runes intently.

"If I may suggest, when you discover a counter to the mind rune, make a ring or something for each of us inscribed with it, so that should one of us begin misuse of it without the consent of the others, his counterparts can stop him? For that matter, it'd be nice to make sure nobody can pull that kind of thing on us. The knowledge of the twenty-first century could be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. Just imagine goblins with nuclear science."

"I'll leave you two to discuss the particulars of runic magic and technology, endless can probably do a better job of explaining it than I can.  I've always been bad with words.  And I'll get right on finding a counter to the mind rune, but countering runic magic is much more complicated to do and time-consuming to research."

(endless gets up and goes to into his bedroom. he returns with a sword engraved with runes.)

if it were working fully I would call it frost bite. but right now all it does is get little cold. any ideas?

4maskwolf examines the runes briefly, then shrugs, "This is a more practical matter and is outside my area of expertise.  But the power enhancement rune appears to have been inscribed slightly off, maybe that's the problem.  Try rescribing it and see if that works."

ahhhhh.....yes.......I will try that tomorrow, I was thinking a good way to get around the issues with fire would be to use ice instead.....

"Well, there's always the option of electrified sword- Wait a minute, could you use runes to make an object store energy, like a battery? That'd solve your problem and give me a great many ideas. Just stick a sword in a fire for an hour or two, and anything it cuts burns, or expose a diamond to the sun for a day or two and you have a light!"

"If you want me to try making photovoltiac panels, you've got another think coming. I could make a solar steam engine, though."

"but maybe.....what if I could find a rune that converts sunlight into electricity....."

"Well, I don't have any real use for electricity at the moment, but if you can get me electricity from magic, I'll make technology to use it. I won't be building you a Commodore 64 or anything, but crude lightbulbs or something might be able to work."
