Gender: F
Age: 21
Description: Joan is a young woman, at around five and a half feet tall with a light brown complexion and raven black hair. Her clothing matches the dress of the garments of the southern sailors: hues of sky blue, trimmed with white and faded azure, created with flowing and light fabrics. She wears a tailcoat with lapels, as part of formal and field-work over a modestly fitted shirt, while her pants look more apt for travel and durability. She wears a satchel, or a messenger bag, carrying the common necessities for long-trips, including rations and other devices needed to maintain herself and her equipment in any weather or condition, along with several differing knives. Inside the satchel and tucked neatly to the side, that it would form quite permanent mark in the bag is a small book, tightly bound with a hard cover, speaking about the philosophies of the world, stretching from personal thought and considerations, to the major religions in brief, and in detail.
With a baldric carrying a crossbow, she carries herself with an air of elegance and sturdiness, emphasizing her upbringing and tutelage as a sailor and fisherman of her people, though inter-mixed with the southern navy of her duchy--as it was decreed that the exclusivity military and civilian life be mixed and intertwined, ending up in a civilian force disciplined and ready to act as a militia under the local authority.
Backstory: Joan was born in a family of fishermen, who worked part-time with spear and bow in the art of river-and-fall fishing. Her family was a modest type, as there was no poverty (though the concept was known) in her area due to the egalitarian reign of the local lord. With the only drawback being a minimal population compared to other duchies around, Joan lived a childhood of industriousness, taught and inculcated with the values of labor--tempered by the values of thought, consideration and action. The lord of the land was a benevolent ruler, having shared his fair time in the hardships that befell the lands of late, and sought to provide an attitude to span the generations: so was his wish, which encompassed most of Joan's beliefs.
This background did not shelter her, despite the high degree of protectivity her parents gave her, as given the role of the citizenry most were pushed to expose themselves to the world in order to thrive and survive. Taught in the trade of her parents, Joan was thrust into the life of a traveler, moving across the coastlines of the south with much experience in many of their cultures, though in part, experienced in much of their folklore too. Her frivolity in the tall tales of the sailing fleet is tempered by her seriousness and demeanor in regards to goals and achievements--she was an idealist, though with an open mind towards the ideas of others in this world, somewhat balanced off by her attentiveness to the concept of spirituality and reverence to the unseen.
Skills (going with faults +1 here):
> Archer Affinity: Ranged weaponry, primarily used via eye-and-hand coordination, was a staple of Joan's heritage.
> Life Experience'd: Joan was considered, by most of her peers and colleagues, as a wise woman: she had an ability with diffusing volatile situations and calming angered souls.
> (Functionally) Literate: Joan can read and write--as well as comprehend the languages inscribed in tomes or walls.
> Marksman: Despite being born prematurely, Joan has as how the fishermen say 'a knack for shooting [deep sea fish]', using either thrown or handheld projectile devices.
> Stalker: A life of a hunter brings out a 'sneaky' profile; Joan is very knowledgeable in keeping concealment, or keeping silent in movement.
> High Stamina: Despite her biological disorder, Joan has overcame the notion that the 'curse of the red-born tide' does not inhibit holistic physical growth; she is very capable of holding her own in martial combat, or in prolonged running or climbing.
Faults:
> Superstituous: While Joan does not share in the beliefs of rituals or presentations to appease spirits, she beliefs in the respect of the world and nature--having quite a considerable and vast effect on her.
> Duality-of-Mind: In considering a situation from multiple perspectives, Joan is partially jaded in the way of her optimism; in cases of judging a criminal and ulteriorly malevolent acts, she debases towards more positive schemes, despite being able to perceive and see a person for who they truly are.
> Arachnophobia: The tales of giant, sea-skimmerspiders had quite an effect on Joan's childhood--they were pretty much real, and the source of legend within her area. She has trouble fighting any creature, illusionary or otherwise, which resembles those 8-legged, web-spinning fears. As a strange note, she is very accepting towards jumping spiders for their eccentric and calculative nature.
>
Hemophiliac: Having a rare bleeding disorder in which the blood doesn't clot normally, Joan is susceptible to minor wounds, and endangered by her own sense of daring.
> Daring: Joan is more inclined towards adventure and taking risky professions or roles.
