Better duck
« on: March 01, 2015, 10:59:39 pm »

Duck should suffer from not being able to swim. [SWIM_DEPENDENT]

Duck shouldn't hatch on its eggs. It shouldn't even lay eggs on nest box at all. Ducks leave their eggs all over the ground they live...

Well when I read this kind of topic I always wonder why you ignore other animals but duck?
Like koalas should eat tree leaves instead of grass, there should be GCS youngs, crocodiles should bury their eggs, kangaroos should be able to carry their babies, etc.

Ow.. normally when you duck, something goes over your head a split second before (but usually after) someone throws it at you, leaving no way to get out of the situation. I just hit my head on the desk from ducking.

There should be a tag that allows creatures to swim naturally on the surface of the water and path through water without making them fully amphibious.

I made ducks and other water fowl amphibious in my mod, which means they should be swimming about in rivers and stuff,

I heard mules used to go blind when they were only used in mines. Should animals also go blind if your pasture is inside?

Ducks should probably be able to fly as well...

And ducking should totally be an ability for things to do, basically extra dodging for the head...

I recall wild ducks can fly. I've seen some wild ducks and geese in DF.

I'm pretty sure I've seen my tame ducks fly too, they just choose not to unless their destination can't be reached on foot. Even in .34, if you set a meeting zone on the roof of a building all your flying animals would occasionally hang out up there whenever they weren't pastured- made for an easy way to have a set of nestboxes to rear more birds without having to micromanage egg collection too much.

Do creatures with [SWIMS_INNATE] or whatever the tag is dive without suffocation?

Um, just to clarify:

Are we talking about a better duck (animal) or ducking as in dodging things or something?

We're talking about the animal, people are just cracking jokes because of the title.
