you know, you completely broke the water reservoir, you noob. that was the magma room drain. ill have to wait for the whole thing to drain and someones fps could have gotten a big hit!

This is a Noob fort, you know... part of the premise is doing things wrong because you don't fully understand how to do them.

Tux, i really enjoy reading your dairy (especially the first post).

It really feels as if it is written by the character (in other words, in character. ) also the feelings and thoughts even flesh you out more as a real person talking to his dairy

Ps : i especially like the phrase you mention that summer is here at least in theory... haha, true, seasons make not much differences to dwarves living in a mountain

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

Well, "noob" is a compliment for players of this fort, isn't it?

no, thats just one of the many side-effects of playing dwarffortress. Some common ones include cat genocide and psychaiatric hospitals

If- if you were easier to understand, maybe people would be able to talk to you?

Oh, balls.

I thought it was gonna take forever to reach my turn, and when I remember that this exists I've barely been skipped! Oh well, sign me up for a different turn, yes?

Sure, you could even take your turn now, if you like, seeing as you're around.

I have been casually playing this game since roughly 2012, but I am a huuuuuge noob. Every now and then I get a strange mood to come back for more dwarfiness, such as now. So dwarfy I'm willing to give my first community fort a shot.

I'm somewhat decent at Adventure Mode,  but out of the half-dozen DF mode forts I've made, none have lasted longer than a year.

Never made soap.
How to military?
Burrows? Huh?
Wells look far too complicated.
Channeling as well seems out of my league.
So far out of the league I can barely manage to get the ground wet to farm on.
Never touched magma. Heresy, I know.
Never touched, fire, really.
Never touched anything hot, actually. No forges, no smelters, not even a wood stove.
Dunno how trading works.
I think I have a grasp of butchering... hm.
Most of my farms fail within the first few months.
Oh, I didn't even realize pasturing was a thing.
Many of the designations go over my head.

And so on, and so forth, ad nauseum. The only thing I can manage most times is some basic designations.

Will you allow me to be one of the Urists taking a turn? I think it's time to grow my beard and this is probably where it should be.

Oh, okay

I will gladly do so.

Absolutely. Adding him to the list now. If we run out of applicants, does anyone mind if I take the final, fort-ending turn?
