i am more in favor of using unemotional and logic bound scripts to filter the content than I am about creating community selected submoderators.

We get in some pretty heated arguments here on the general discussion subforum, and sometimes long standing members get permabanned for grossly bad judgement.

Without exception, every forum I have been a part of that has turned to community moderators has suffered from some of said moderators developing "little big-man" syndrome, and dispensing "moderation" on users with whom they personally disagree, especially when it comes to differences of opinion on what constitutes civil behavior.

I would rather have the image troll than have that.

greasemonkey/javascript can edit pages when they load. some possibilities include changing the image urls, or resizing the images to 1x1 pixel. or just erasing the entire HTML node which has the images. I took a look at the images he links and they're mostly from a few selected domains. So, those entire domains can be cut, and for ones with imgur links (of which he uses a few) those specific urls can be cut.

If they do, or if they use their powers in a way that's not allowed, or if their regular account spills the beans, that mod account is banned. No drama through enforced anonimity!

If 4chan has taught anything, it is this: giving a person anonymity causes them to become even worse than they would be otherwise.

The very second that mod account posts or is found to misuse it's authority, it's instant banning of that mod account, and obviously no new one for that bay12'er. Zero tolerance, so it really does stay confined to troll post deletion and (temp?)banning.

I have a javascript (uses greasemonkey in FireFox or works natively in chrome) that culls bay12 threads I don't want to read. I can modify it so that it turns all the troll's images into kittens and rainbows. It's sleep time now, but I'll get onto that ASAP if anyone wants it. This will reduce the annoyance to being unexpectedly bombarded with kittens and rainbows.

Could you simply use the script to break the images altogether, such that we are bombarded by an empty post that takes up a normal amount of space?

And no, we don't need more moderators. More moderators means moderator abuse.

Honestly, if Toady had bigoted language being unable to be used in thread titles and this thread continuing to act as an alert system, we have things covered for those that use public/work spaces, which is the largest problem for people from what I have seen said.
