I just want Toady to appoint a spamwatch moderator group who can remove shit like this. But that instantly gets replies in the line of "PATRIOT ACT","TAKING MY FREEDOM","MODS ALWAYS ABUSE POWER".

Adding a spamwatch group does absolutely nothing with your freedom but enforce the rules already in place. And watching a group of 1-10 moderators (who already come from trusted members and would have a very limited mandate) for abuse is a lot easier than thousands of random forum accounts.

Who cares if they only have to act once or twice a year, its enough of a disturbance to disrupt forum activity. You could even just only activate those powers during periods with attacks......

Would be nice if  a VPN ban on the troll would work, but then again, wouldn't that affect more than just the troll? Also proxies if the person knows how.

While I agree with you, this isn't a thread for discussion about that.  We have an alert system, let's keep discussion out of this thread so that Toady doesn't have to hammer it if it gets out of hand.

I post from a public place, and I'd rather not be surprised by shock images when other people could be looking over my shoulder.  There are several other people in this situation, and that's why we have this thread.  Some people don't need it, some think it's a bad idea, but it helps some of us.

Yeah, I can definitely see the benefits of having this thread.
