Kull, Castor, and Xaver all offer their protection in exchange for breakfast. In response, the mage pulls several dried fruits and a bag of ration crackers from her pouch and hands them off to the soldiers. Castor, being the logically thinking man he was, asks the mage if she kept any books on magic. With another one of her small titters, she replied "Oh, magic cannot be explained through writing! The easiest way to imbue magic upon yourself is by meditating with a mage. The second easiest route to enlightenment is being taught by a mage. If no mage is present, several years meditating in a circle surrounded by your element would do. Before I met my teacher, I tried to meditate in a ring of fire. I suffered some minor burns, and I think some poor chap's house got burnt down. Why do you pursue this line of questioning?"
