The vomit is mightier than the dagger
« on: February 26, 2015, 11:19:30 am »

Well i after running from a bronze colossus with 2 of my zombies I find a labyrinth. I decide t go in it and i find a minotaur. Having thrown my only axe at a bronze collossus I decide to throw a dagger at him. It hits him in the head and glances off. Then one of my zombies hits him in the stomach and he gets sick. I pick up his vomit throw it at him and bruise the fat of his upper body. ???

Improvised thrown weapons can be weird. I have crushed body parts by throwing asparagus stalks, and severed spinal columns with silver coins.

Just guessing, but the axe and dagger were probably trying to do piercing damage which wouldn't work too well on a bronze creature, while the vomit was a blunt attack.

I thought the bug feature of throwing water, vermin, fluffy wamblers and your own blood at enemies and shattering their skulls was solved in .40 ?

I killed a demon with a garden cress leaf, so no.
I can only assume it was edited a little (blood isn't any good any more, it just hits 'em and slides off)

Just stop the story right there and give yourself a pat on the back.
You are a badass.

I don't know, some kind of leather. I wrestled it away from him so I could hit his unarmored head, but I forgot to drop it so I ended up bashing in his skul with his own hat.

Then I killed a ton of trolls and goblins with the same hat.

Throwing anything works better on creatures that fight unarmed/unarmored, since any decent goblin easily blocks/bats away all the stones thrown at him. As was already mentioned, throwing odd objects is often a blunt attack, and, henceforth, causes bruces more often.

Also, the weight of the item being thrown now is a factor when calculating damage it seems, as I noticed, that throwing Roc Bird corpse(9999T) does more damage now than throwing a fluffy wambler (1<T). Bigger creatures have bigger (and heavier) bodyparts and clothes (if worn).

Therefore, a pile of vomit from a big heavy creature like minotaur would be respectively big and heavy, making it a deadly projectile. I once played a human outsider, whose only weapon was a Roc Bird upper leg, that made an exceptional blunt weapon.

I haven't done any impressive damage throwing masterwork sharpened gabbro stones. 5lbs, and that's the densest surface layer stone you can find. I also collected silver carving and slicing knives to use as throwing weapons or awhile, but those weren't terribly good either. Now I use divine spears and pikes, and they do better but they're not quite game-breakers.

No, actually. I can tell because 'the scale was torn apart!' a lot and finally one of them impacted his head and it exploded into gore.
Still, it was a last-ditch attempt and a total fluke.
