Making a macro, even just for inquiring about beasts and their locations, doesnt seem to work. Please tell me there's a better way than spending 20 minutes at each character's beginning asking about each quest bit by bit

How did you make the macro?

Make sure you aren't talking to a lord or guard captain or something as they have different numbers of options, then make sure you aren't a lord or lady yourself.

With a non-traveling npc there should be three options and I have a macro I use which works just fine by hitting k, enter, down down enter, enter, down, enter. Then I just fire it again after they tell me where something is or go find someone else if they don't know.

You can also do a more controlled version by doing:
k
enter
"tr" enter (type tr and it will select troubles unless they were traveling)
"be" enter (type be and it will select beasts instead of bandits)
down enter

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong...here's my process:

Begin a conversation with a normal townsperson.
Ctrl s to start macro
K and enter (to continue conversation)
Down, down, enter (to select inquire about trouble)
K, enter (continue conversation again)
B,E, enter (to filter select beasts)
K, enter, down (continue conversation, ask directions)
Ctrl-r to end macro, ctrl-s to save, ctrl-l to load, ctrl-p to play. I'm not a lord, not talking to a lord, and last time I played the macro I made it 1/4 of the way in the desired conversation macro before my character decided to lick moon man blood off his longsword. I've tried 6 or 7 times to no avail, always gets a bit of the way in before deviating from the path and saying or doing something bizarre

Lag does that sometimes to me when I'm really spam firing it, and dear god it is hilarious that he runs up to someone...

Hahaha I sure wouldn't mess with him....lag makes sense then, possibly because I'm on an older laptop

Yeah, I've never been able to really do anything but selling coins in fort mode with macros. I'm on a rather crappy computer.
