((The thing is, either he did or didn't want something to be there when he made the area. If he did, then lets just hope the dice let us find it. If he didn't, the pillars make no sense. I find it highly unlikely that a DM would originally put a secret area in and then take it out just to waste player's time. Especially in a competitive game like this.))

((On the contrary, since this is a competitive game the DM would want to put in time vs reward incentives since the two teams are eventually going to clash, and whoever wastes the least time while taking the right risks and being lucky will have the best stuff and is going to win a conflict. We have some kind of spot skill right? Who has the highest number in that? That person plus an escort should go jump the gap and scope out the secret area.))
