Redirect the old man's ramble to the city guard in hopes of boring or distracting him while we get away from this obvious shakedown.

We let the old man continue rambling about his favorite sitting spots and we get to slip away. There's nothing un-compassionate about that.

This is clearly a shakedown, and you ain't one to be shook. You pretend to be digging through your bag for your coin purse as the old man continues to blather on about the crazy fads of his youth, having already moved on from talking about sitting spots. Just wait for it... Wait for it... Wait for it...

The guard glances over towards the source of the noise.

Skill determining roll - Illusion: 20 (You actually got a natural 20, congrats on being the big cheese when it comes to illusion.)

The moment the guard's focus shifts, you vanish into thin air. You know why? Because you are the FUCKING BEST AT ILLUSION, FUCK YEAH, WE OUT BITCHES.

Whoops, didn't mean to say that out loud. Your habit of talking constantly does not help your stealth skills. The guard is not pleased at this turn of events. He tells you that unlicensed public displays of sorcery are also against the law. He demands you halt, criminal scum.

Of course, his commands hold somewhat less weight since he can't actually see you.

As you do your thing, the old man continues talking. After fifteen seconds of pleasantries and anecdotes, the guard seems to have had enough.

"OKAY I DIDN'T WANT YOUR MONEY ANYWAY" He storms off in a huff. You say goodbye half a dozen times, your voice following him down the street.

This game is amazing.

Continue talking to the old man until he falls asleep.

Continue talking to the old man until he falls asleep.

And try to invite him to our party. We can talk our foes into submission!

You sit with the old man for a long time before he begins to doze off. He catches himself and begins to totter to his feet, saying that he's feeling his age and should head home to rest. You help him to his feet and walk with him as he slowly makes his way down the street.

You soon find out where he lives as he turns towards a plain wooden door, still talking serenely about his youth. Apparently he lived out in the country for most of his life, but came to the city in pursuit of wealth. It didn't work out like he had hoped. He fishes a key out of his pocket and thanks you profusely for both talking to him and walking him home. You say to think nothing of it; you enjoyed your time sitting with him. He calls you sweet and says that if his grandson were home, he'd introduce you to each other, but his grandson works until late at night.

He unlocks the door and goes inside, saying goodbye and thank you one last time and encouraging you to come visit sometime. The door clicks shut behind him.

With Harl enhancing our magic, we'll fly on a roof to sleep on.

With Harl enhancing our magic, we'll fly on a roof to sleep on.
-1 we won't learn anything about ourselves or the world by doing this. I'm not even sure we need to sleep.

Wander the slums, looking for more people to talk to.
