Somehow my broker managed to get stuck in one of my cage traps and I'm wondering if the next time a caravan comes along if I can sell him... if he survives that long.

Since I've found out that it is not possible I guess selling him is not an option, but I don't want to give up this opportunity I have... Any suggestions on what I should do to this broker...?   Its not like I can't get another one.

Unfortunately, you can't. I know selling caged invaders doesn't work (and releases the prisoner) but I'm not sure exactly what would happen with one of your dwarves.

in the last version it didnt work, at least not with my queen or baron^^ and they get caught when they get unconciuss while standing on a trap^^

Hm... maybe I should start making more beds, I guess my broker fell asleep on a trap.

Well at least last time I checked, I couldn't sell zombie dwarves.
But I can sell untamed GCS cages without a problem.

What about if they are no longer dwarves? Sounds like that could be a (very immoral) form of income in modded games.

What I want to say is, even undead dwarves can't be sold.
You can sell zombie animals, but not zombie dwarves.

I guess there must be some code that checks the race of the caged animals.

I mean, if you were playing a mod game with stuff that could turn dwarves into other creatures.

Is the cage magma safe?

Once I had a filled cage drop into a river that froze. The cage got encased in ice for some years until I stumbled upon it while mining ice and the animal inside was still safe and sound.

Try that with dwarves, except with magma (assuming your cage is magma safe).

definatly starve, and grazers would starve too. but a dog at the other hand or a goblin could be frozen in a freezing biome forever, waiting to be excavated by humans in the far future^^

Make him the ultimate trap and drop him on invaders?
Even if he starve, he can still help the fortress from beyond the grave...

I had a fort with obnoxious noble mandates, so I systematically caged them all and put them on display in my dining room.

hmmm i was wondering for a time, jhast the noble mandates be tweaked in the 2014 version? i had no mandate til now i a 10 year fortres... i somehow think that something isnt going right there

Do remember that you can release caged dwarves by constructing the cage as a building (b->j) and then going to the assignment menu for that cage.

Just in case you didn't know that was possible.
