"Come then. We must get out of this cold." Sarco mumbled as he moved over to Tadhgs limp body. "Hopefully their fire was still going and they collected plenty of fuel." Sarco carefully picked up Tadhgs body and started carrying him towards the cave. "Can you go check it out and make sure that there are no more surprises in store for us Miss Akira?"
Tadhg feels a sense of mild contentment and growing power from the wisps as they return to the Orb-apparently the meal wasn't very enjoyable, but they do feel 'full'.
He feels a queer stretching sensation in his mind, as the Wisps regain some of their old strength and more besides...he senses their consumption is related to their new abilities-an aggressive trait for feeding on the elves, and a more passive ability after consuming the non-sentient Ooze's life force...their voices burble in his mind (politely, as if afraid of him), a little louder and stronger now, and slightly less chaotic.
"Holder...thank you...we're....feeding...grow power...to feed...and more...Holder...you're welcome...destroy...enemies...hide...Holder...help...friends...hurt...friends...kill...feed...friends...Holder...kill...Holder..."Wisp Orb Lv.3New Ability: Shocking SwarmThe Wisps can now be ordered to directly attack opponents, as per the 'Shocking Grasp' spell-Sarco can order them to do this a free action on his turn. Every attack reduces the duration they are summoned by 10 seconds, so they can do at most 5 attacks before being forced to return. Enemies directly killed by this ability generate 50% more experience for the Orb. They may attempt to use this ability without your permission, on those close to death. They can only do a single ability at any one time.
New Ability: Mist ShieldThe Wisps can be ordered to guard a target as a free action-they will form a misty shield either in a 3x3 box (15ft by 15ft), or around a target, providing the same effect as half cover to all friendly characters within the shield, +2 to AC and an advantage on all dexterity checks from being targeted from outside the mist. They will cunningly deny this same advantage to hostile enemies who attempt to enter the cloud. Every turn they spend shielding reduces the duration they are summoned by 10 seconds, so they can do at most 5 turns before being forced to return. They can only do a single ability at any one time.
---Kawtari helps move her unconscious companion into the mouth of the mine. As an afterthought, she brings the toolbox, too, and cracks it open to see if there was anything useful inside.
Kawtari wipes the snow off the lid and checks-it's unlocked. Inside are bunches of mundane tools, many of them quite undersized for Kobold hands, but distinctly well made. She notes a passing similarity between the metal work done on her own armor, and the equipment-she can hazard a guess which Dwarf forged these.
4xPickaxes (One handed 1d4 weapons, good for tunneling through soft stone. They can do piercing damage.)
4xTool Hammers (One handed 1d4 weapons, good for working on a craft. They can do bludgeon damage.)
4xTool Saws (One handed 1d4 weapons, good for cutting wood. They can do slashing damage.)
4xPadded Armor (These small, dented helmets and vests are simple miners gear-designed to repel sharp rocks and the occasional fall.)
1xShovel (Likewise good for digging through sand, it only does 1d4 bludgeoning, if used as a weapon.)
1xBag of Nails (Sacks of sharp, metal nails. while useful for construction, they can also be used as makeshift caltrops when spread on the ground. They act like caltrops in every fashion, but are generally easier to avoid-their DEX save is only 10)
---Akira nods and goes to scout out the cavern.
Akira enters the dusky confines carefully, keeping an eye out for trouble...all she finds are about two dozen pairs of glowing red eyes staring back at her from the darkness. There's alot of Kobolds here, hiding in the darkness-not only adults, but young Kobold pups.
"Yark! Svaust re wux? Drehlnik!?" One of them asks her timidly-a short fellow with yellow skin, a stub for a tail, and a missing left ear. A few of them seem to pick up on this word, until they're all chanting 'Drehlnik' at her. They seem about to flee back into the depths of the cave, but more than a few have grubby miners tools clutched in their claws.
She has no idea what they are saying-it's a sort of yapping lizard tongue that makes no sense to her.
