Sarco and Tadhg move forward, sliding down the small embankment in a flurry of snow. It's wise to let them go first!

[?][?]

They don't quite see the danger until it's too late...as Sarco sets foot on the cart track, he pauses-hearing a...quiet squishing noise. Sort of like slowly melting ice water in a glass, it's very subtle. A moment later, he sees movement, very stealthy movement-to his left and right.

Oozes!

As the snow-camouflaged oozes jiggle and slide silently toward him (they are fairly large despite this, almost ten feet across, made of translucent, pale pudding), Sarco and Tadhg notices some of the junk left uncovered are very tiny, almost reptilian bones...

Time to act!

"Those look...unpleasant."
Rather than get close, Kawtari decided to unlimber her longbow and launch an arrow at the second white blob.

Akira hangs back from the fight proper.

"I would guess they are hostile!" Sarco said, spying the bones. "We need to ether run now or decide to fight!" Seeing Kawtari shoot a arrow at one of the blobs Sarco makes up his mind, maneuvering around the cart to impose himself between Ooze 1 and his party members. As he ran he unleashed the wisps, positioning them in humanoid form next to the ooze. With a short thought to them of "Feeding time". As he approached the Ooze he attacked with a fervor. "For the Kobolds!" as he swung his great hammer at it once, then back again.

Free Action: Unleash wisps in humanoid form next to ooze.
Movement: Move around the cart so I am next to ooze 1 and between it and the other party members
Action: Attack Ooze 1 with maul
Free Action: Action surge
Action: Attack Ooze 1 with maul

"I don't what kind of jelly it is, but I bet I know how to fight them!" Tadhg shouts and grabs a firm hold of his hammer.

Attack Big White Blob 2! It is time for squishies.

"They aren't even thinking creatures," Samara laughs derisively.

Fire Bolt #2.
What sort of oozes are these?

Arcana Knowledge Test (Tough/Target 15)
[15+5=20]
Pass!

Samara recalls from her studies these are lesser Snow Puddings-oozes that lurk in high mountains, disguising themselves as snow until someone comes plodding along. They're not very rare, nearly mindless and utterly unsophisticated in tactics-but, they are dangerous enough. They are also nearly impossible to sneak upon-they don't 'see' anything, but the sources of heat that their prey gives off.

As she has likely already correctly discerned, they are immune to cold damage.

They are resistant to all forms of physical damage-bludgeoning, piercing and slashing-though thankfully not immune to these sorts of attacks. Piercing and slashing attacks additionally cause them to split into smaller versions of themselves, no less dangerous.

She also recalls the chemical essence of snow pudding is actually quite sweet to the taste. At least that's how it was described to her by that idiot who tried it because she battered her eyes at him. It turns our it's also extremely poisonous, damaging the brain and body. The Oozes don't use this poison intentionally, but it could be transferred if the Ooze manages it's favorite sort of attack-the grapple. You shudder to think what might happen if your team mates become less intelligent.

"Oh yes, dearies, try not to cut or stab them! This sort will split themselves, and I'm certain none of you want to be responsible for helping slime monsters reproduce! You might avoid letting them grab you-no hugs!" she adds, muttering to herself, "Which should go without saying, but..."

Aldeth takes a hesitant step forward, and peers over the ledge, and then scrawls a circle in the air. The air inside the circle begins to shimmer, and she jabs her hand through it, firing off an eldritch blast.

Sarco, enraged by the death of his near-kin, moves quickly despite his sluggish cold blooded nature, dodging around the cart and launching fierce attacks. His first slams into the puddings hide with a terrific *squidge*, causing it to shudder, but it seems not to to have any internal organs to rupture...he tries to withdraw his hammer for another attack, but finds the sticky beast has taken a hold of it in it's sludgy body! It takes all his strength to pull it out.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Tadhg attempts to follow Sarco's example, but his own maul merely bounces off the Ooze with a *glorp*.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Samara decides to show the party meatheads how to deal with such monsters, and issues jetting flames from her fingertips-she makes a melting hole through Tadhg's Ooze.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Akira sneaks a bit closer, but...she has some doubts she can sneak up these things...

Kawtari unlimbers her bow and aims at the second blob-maybe she didn't bother to believe Samaras warnings, because as soon as the blade enters the hide, the whole thing starts to shudder and bubble, as the ooze divides itself right down the middle to mitigate her attack. Now there's two of them! They seem a bit smaller, at least...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Aldeth, belatedly, joins the attack-using her hex and eldritch blast on the larger of the two slimes-the pure force of her attack blasts away large chunks of the blob, and these do not regenerate!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---

The Oozes strike back! The Big One lands a withering blow on Sarco that knocks him nearly to the ground, bludgeoning, burning and freezing him in a single strike. He stumbles to one knee, but manages to keep his feet-barely.

The other Oozes double-team Tadhg, beating him terribly.

Sarco -16HP
Tadhg -14HP
