Dealing with lazy amphibious creatures
« on: February 18, 2015, 03:48:36 am »

Sometime amphibious like flesh balls and crocodiles spawn in water and refuse to leave map. This can prevent other cavern creatures from spawning.

So how do I get rid of them? The crocodiles can be lured ashore, maybe. But the flesh balls seldom move at all.

A current?  suckem into a pit/magma.

getting aquatic pets to attack them.

FBs are commonly hostile to cave critters.

Shame its not 34.  Those dwarves knew how to jump into water to kill a benign critter and drown on the way out.

Well it seems the flesh ball don't like swimming.

I saw three balls in the water near the edge. I constructed a screw pump over one of them. When the dorf began to pump, all the 3 balls moved to the newly dried tile. So after all they don't like water very much.

*Edit* Or they were just washed away by the current.

*Edit* Oh, I managed to send them away by draining the water around them. It seems to be a bug, maybe they can't swim.
