Yeah, that looks good to me as well.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Okay, that leaves 5 empty space to easily install DALES into the hull.

Going to look at the final plan, give a rundown on RU left, cargo space, run times and such.

I accidentally counted that space twice, so no solar array then ...

You can stuff the DALES system in as cargo, but it will not function during flight.

Here is the current turn, you can choose to put DALES in cargo or keep as a module.

Turn 4 Oct 2076 - Dec 2076

- Medium Shuttle Bay Size:18
- Medium Cargo Bay + Small Cargo Bay Size: 33
- Giant fuel tank, size 10

Cargo :
- Organic Sludge Compressor kit. Cost 2 RU, Size 2, Mass 1
- Medium Shuttle

Research : DALES-Ship Interface system (basically letting DALES manage the day to day business.)
Event : A - Launch

The final stage of construction begins, with large sections of the ship turned over into storage compartments and space for a cargo shuttle.  The crew begins loading in various crates full of tightly packed goods as the first batch of sleepers go online and begin the cool down and cryo cycle.

The DALES system is installed in a prebuilt room in the core of the new cargo bay, spared from the redesign as the rest of the cargo area is built around it.  A system is set up to link the learning machine directly to the command deck, allowing it to monitor and control most ship systems.  Early simulations prove this will be a difficult task however; the DALES has no dedicated expert systems to ship functions and must use most of it's processing ability to a specific task.  It also is unable to make any final decisions, coming up with far too many options and possibilities.

The databanks include a surprising amount of entertainment materials, from movies and video games to works of fiction, magazines and educational materials.  Attempts by DALES to come up with novel entertainment is amusing at best and often disturbing, randomly recombining existing media with little coherence and no reason.

The setup will allow a smaller crew to operate command, down to 3 from 5.  DALES will also allow dedicated functions to work more efficiently and act as a safety backup.

Research roll 72

DALES installed in hull.

Command center crew needed reduced to 3.  Penalty for less crew members at -5/-10/-20.

All other ship functions need only marginal oversight and response to alerts. -20 for no awake crew.

+10 bonus to critical failure rolls during flight phase (less severe critical failures)

+? (bonus) to events during flight phase

+? (bonus) to one dedicated function of ship during flight.  Starting functions are maintenance, moral and research.

Leader sleeping, six awake at all times, 15 in cyro? That sound good to everyone?

Also, the domes and the gennie loaded in the shuttle, factory in the medium cargo bay with the sludge compressor?

Alright, here's my cargo list:

Cargo Orders:
2 Basic Parts
2 Tanks of Rocket Fuel
2 Advanced Parts
2 Air Storage Tanks
2 Water Storage Tanks
1 set of Constructor Bots
1 set of Mining Bots
1 Survey Satellite
1 Vac Suits
Small Cargo Bay(10/10)
 MFFK

Small Cargo Bay(10/10)
 HE-3 Inertial Fusion Kit
 Organic Sludge Compressor
 Microdomes
 1x Basic Parts

Medium Cargo Bay(20/20)
 2x Basic Parts
 2x Advanced Parts
 2x Water Storage
 2x Air Storage
 2x Tanks of Rocket Fuel
 Mining Bots
 Constructor Bots

Medium Shuttle (4/10)
 1x set of Vac Suits
 1 Survey Satellite

If I haven't fucked up my calculations, that should leave one free RU which I have no clue on what to spend on...maybe a couple extra things of rocket fuel? Also, went with the bot teams due to the fact we have little manpower, though I'm wondering if we want to go with the heavy bot mechs instead...

I think we should go with the heavy bot teams, and put the resulting RU point into a seed bank, along with the first one.

I also think we want to replace one of those survey sats with a weather sat, but thats probably just me.

Um, I just want to point out that your ship is going to be in orbit indefinitely, with one of the most advanced pieces of detection equipment that is available.  Researching a way to use that for weather or mineral surveys would be simple at most.

In addition, you have a dedicated research slot during flight as long as you have 2 crew members who can work on it.

Not railroading, just pointing out options.

Also, with 3 units of fuel (the shuttle bay included one) you can make 6 round trips, enough to get all 50 units of cargo down with room left over for two final drops of crew members.  Landing takes minimal amounts of fuel so that would be 'free'.

If we take extra fuel can we store it planetside? (Say, if we want to maybe set up a relay on a moon or something using the shuttle)

yes; however, refueling without a dock would be more difficult, leaving any cargo in an unprotected area carries risks.

The shuttles are capable of flight between most moons, between planets would be a stretch for the batteries and life support.

We probably would want to build a hangar anyways.

Even if we don't get a moon, being capable of limited orbital operations would be handy. And yeah, if we do this a groundside hanger for the shuttle would be on the list.

I wouldn't take a sattelite, seeing as we have the entire spaceship functioning as one.

Also, don't see why we would not fill up the cryo system to max capacity.

A possible problem I just realized is. How do we get He-3 fuel down to the ground?

Ow so the mass listed in the stats did not include cargo. Well, that's bad. Probably would have gone for the size 12 tank if I knew.

On a side note, Tryrar's list doesn't include any lifesupport systems. So that won't work.

On yet another side note, is it possible to get a building packet of this ship system?

-Oxygen scrubbers & water recyclers. 5 RU. Size 1. Mass 3. Electricity 2 MW. Provides life support for 20 awake persons / 100 cryosleepers. Note: Does not provide food. Crew requires food stores. Requires 1 additional person awake.

There might also be a bit of a balancing problem. Our oxygen extractor produces 5000 liter of oxygen per day. Meanwhile, a cursory google search has revealed to me that the average human uses 550 liters per day. So that means some serious life support troubles.
