Generally it's best to know how the game actually works before you play it, yes.

Quote
@Akira - You should probably claim at least one Camouflage Pot, if we aren't keeping all three of them in a communal inventory.

Yeah, I'd think she would take a pot of camo goo, and a bow, and a scimitar, so she has slashing damage covered. Her rapier/daggers/shortsword all only do piercing. It's good to have a balance of damage types, to deal with varied enemies. You know.

*whistle*
Slashing damage is useful?  Also, not proficient with bows. Only hand crossbows.
Shortbows are simple weapons in 5e, if I remember rightly.

WELL LOOKIE HERE

I thought this had come up before, and you were told then. In addition, Light Crossbows were simple weapons even in 3.5, and you've played that too. The Dm literally told you to pick up a bow, and you did not.

Even on the roleplay front, your meek rogue is taking cov- oh wait. She's just sort of standing there. Taking cover from arrows? Nah. "Basic self-preservation" isn't part of her character, it seems.

We're not expecting encyclopaedic knowledge here... just, you know, some.

WHEN DID ARROWS COME INTO THIS? All the thingys are knocked over and I'm fairly certain they have no bows.

Anyways, I normally play like this and normally it isn't a problem. Because I like to play this way.

Huh. Well, combat is pretty important, ya know...like gigla says...in fact, if you can't handle it, i am going to ask you to leave the game, really. Sorry, GM responsibility. Roleplaying is very important but it's not all there is. And frankly you haven't RP'ed much either.

I design encounters assuming you'll pitch in. The difficulty of the encounter assumes you're present and in the group. Otherwise (like the last battle) people take more damage and are at more risk of failure/death. Tadhg almost died (a player almost had to leave the game) because you didn't read stuff that 'wasn't important' to you. He took more damage soloing the slimes than he had to. While you stood around.

This game is actually between LIFE an DEATH, you know? :P It actually has consequences for your action/inaction, whereas a pure RP would not. You need to read the info I'm providing you-check the enemy tab. There are six Sahuagin with longbows jammed up behind the door, waiting to come out and start sniping.

So your normal play is "useless?" Explains a lot. :I

Quote from: Enemies

Yes, they are prone. But they can get back up, if you can handle the surprise of me saying so. You also seem to have not looked at the enemies spoiler... since 7/10s of the enemies either approaching or upon us will have ranged weapons.

The information you need is not hidden from you. It is all easily available.

Well that was.. oh well.

it's pretty obvious the sahuagin are running away from something

And the only thing Sahuagin run from is BIGGER SAHUAGIN

By the way, since we are on the topic of Sahuagin, you should read this if you haven't already.

I mean, aw, don't go...meh.

You think we're being mean, probably? Pff, grow up. D&D is supposed to be a slight challenge-like reality, it has rules and consequences to your actions. I'm not going to waste time trying to deal with B12 drama theater. I can't be ANY nicer to you than I already have.

Anyway, sorry to see you go. This obviously was not the game for you.

*forehead rub*

Ugh, how to deal with this...

I remember those things. My favorite was the necromancery one. I always though that playing one of those homebrew classes would be fun.

Edit: Also, sorry to see KJ go, although it seems for the best if he doesn't wanta play.

Question - Can I move forward to the edge, throw the javelin, and move back, or do I have to take my whole move action at the same time?

Also, how big is one square on the google map, approaximately?

About 5ft ish.

And you can split up your move/actions in 5e, yeah.

NO U I USE MY INSPIRATION

...I can do that to undo a disadvantage, iirc?

edit: also by my calculations I would still have disadvantage even at the frontest of the ground, so I decided to stay back here for now.
