restraints help
« on: February 17, 2015, 01:06:07 pm »

why every time I try to chain a prisoner the rest of my fort attacks him (and can strike back just fine)? even worse, the prisoners sometimes get away, apparently...

also, why the hell do my guys sometimes let prisoners go before they chain them?

He's an enemy, why wouldn't your dwarves attack him? Why wouldn't he fight back, and try to escape? That's just how it works. What are you trying to accomplish by chaining up enemies? Maybe there is a better wya to do what you are trying to do. Is it just for the look of things? You can just leave them in a cage if you want your dwarves to see them imprisoned.

well, in 34.11 he didn't do any of these things... so while I agree that it makes more sense that way, it did surprise me (and costed me lives). there's nothing I can't accomplish that cannot be done by cages and cage traps (the odd dwarf with preference to goblins, a gladiator arena when I'm bored, decoration for the cafeteria et cetera. lots of things to do with them), but I had to know.
