"It's clearly an extremely advanced piece of alien technology. Anyone want to poke it?"

As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

"No no no, you having to treat it like a classy lady.
Slap dat ass then press all the buttons."*
((Execute/Dumbo does not condone any of the practices mentioned above and realises how incredibly sexist that is.))

Max: Ok gentlemen, look sharp.

Commander Aster, with assistance from Dr. Richard Parker, you are to escort Sergeant Cromwell Jackson to the location of the anomaly, where he will place his payload. He will then activate the countdown. You will then return to the alien portal and return to base.

If Sergeant Cromwell Jackson is incapacitated or killed, the timers for the bomb will not be able to be set. Someone will need to stay behind and trigger the bombs manually, sacrificing themselves. Unless Dr. Richard Parker volunteers for this task, you are obligated to uphold this responsibility yourself.

There should be no intelligent life, if you find any, you will have to make some choices. The planet will be destroyed, if you believe you can assist them in some way without endangering your mission, do so.

If Dr. Richard Parker is incapacitated or killed before reactivating the alien portal, you will all be trapped. The nature of your mission may prevent a rescue mission. We also cannot leave the portal open, to prevent anything unwanted from crossing over.

I will not be able to communicate with any of you once you have crossed over. Do you have any questions about your mission?

(I retract my prior statements about being unable to enjoy this.  I thought it would be text-based, which would have led me to thinking of the Stargate from the series, which would lead down the path I said earlier.  As you are providing images, that route is killed.)

None. Should you run into hostiles, you are to remain undiscovered at all costs.
