One thing, markets and barracks take the same time/cost to build no matter what your chacter level. So, I'm only needed to make upgrades to fort/castle cheaper. Make sure to max out all your barracks yourselves.

I didn't actually needed the money anyway. It was more useful on someone else's hands.

Where can I find a godly smith? I'm currently crashing at Waspnesse's (77, 61) and patronizing theirs. He's not too shabby, but I wanna upgrade my plate and would rather get the biggest kapoow for by buckaroos.

This is a very good thing.
I imagine it like 'Those who started the kingdom do great things'.
And then cue the imagery of a party of 8, akin to a caravan with material and all, roving across the land and delivering supplies to the many areas, creating castles in just a day or so.
I like this imagery.

Thanks! Gonna go check on 'em once I'm done dungeon crawling.

Also check out the map linked in Reelya's sig. We generally keep it fairly up-to-date with god-likes.

Druiddrite God-like blacksmith is still there (well, a few hours ago). He's been smithing for 63 days now. What a champion.

Unfortunately, he finally got enough cash to move to the tropics.  He's retired now -- map is updated.  The best I've found in and around our territory so far is "Good".

The peasants in Hagglade overthrew Mayor Blasius Blackearth (wopple) and installed a new NPC mayor that turned to Staberinde.  I assume we should not attempt to take it back by force.  (for now)  However, if an election comes up, is it acceptable to throw a hat in the ring to retake control?

Edit (removed second question for now)

The other countries almost certainly won't respond if we take out NPC mayors in our region. It's their PC mayors which they'd get pissed at us taking over, or if we advanced too far into their territory. Staberinde won't move to secure NPC's that are loyal to them in our area - they have too many neutral cities in their own backyard already.

Wopple will likely log back in sometime to retake the city, you can PM him to let him know that the city fell.

If you have a spare mayor slot, there are a ton of free cities in the area without us grabbing cities off each other. Swordhaven (81,45) would be a good target for you. That would prevent Skr from conquering it, which would build up his green area. We really need to encourage Skr to expand West not East.

City wasn't one I'm terribly interested in ATM.  Just wanted to know the official line.  Swordhaven IS my next preferred target, followed by Silven Fort.

(edited for clarity)

Further edited to add that Swordhaven has been taken.  It will probably be weeks before I have my 9th level 20 (picked up a level 19 to help fill out a garrison, 4K to level) , not gonna worry about next targets till then.  Meh, could put her in my party for one dungeon crawl  to level her though--too few turns left for now, I'll think about it later.

We can afford to play a slow game now, as long as we maintain garrisons with good barracks. It's 45K xp for a level 20 char. If you stick a level 1 newbie into a town/garrison with a level 10 barracks, they should average 550xp / day (100-1000) from the barracks. That's 3 months real time, not counting any monster XP. Someone who sticks 24 characters in 3 max-barracks garrisons can incubate them for a few months and end up with 8 cities.

I'm using my cities as incubators, and moving them out to new castles once they're tough enough (8x level 6-7 characters is solid) to stand by themselves. For garrison troops, I put 1 skill point in metalurgy, 1 in fletching for archers, 1 in medicine for priests.

~~~
I've also noticed that Staberinde has grown from 2 players to 6 players since we started our country. Considering how I reported that StormTroopers tried to bribe me before to join his country, I think that he's made an effort to bribe other players to sign up since we kicked off.
I keep finding characters with quirky names like "whatever the whatever wizard/sorceror."
Most of them aren't mages or priests.
I found a warrior named "Orixe the Summer Wizard."  Apparently, he only casts spells during the summer.  I can just imagine him insisting, "I'm a wizard!  Really!  It's just not summer!"
Also found an archer named "Enetz the Placid Wizard."  He must be so placid, he never bothers to cast spells.
