No, that's not really going to work. I won't shop in any of your towns if that happens, and it screws over all lower level players who don't have towns. What if I'm looking for recruits and I need to check out 10 towns to find them? that's 10000gp then with that plan. It would certainly be counterproductive by driving all commerce away from the towns. Sure, recruits would pile up. But the problem is none of us will be able to afford to visit the towns on the off-chance of picking up a good recruit. I already get all my recruits from Cardolan and Staberinde towns already due to not being able to afford the party taxes in Armok.

If I need to resurrect a character, repair weapons, or sell loot, I can't just go to the nearest town if it costs me 1000+ gp just to get in. Why would I sell stuff when it costs me more money to get into the town that I make back. I'd just dump the gear in the wilderness then.

My latest dungeon run has earned around 100k, with maybe 2 or 3 trips to nearest town to repair and offload loot.  10k spent on browsing cities while significant is still quite affordable.  Visiting a few towns to browse at current rates of 400/town at the moment is cheap

And personally while I'd be happy to set my tax rates as low as everyone thought best to give the lower level players a fair chance, I wouldn't dream of doing something as selfish as spending in enemy towns and boosting their coffers to save myself a few pennies from higher costs of paying to enter ally towns when the money is going straight to an ally anyway.

It's a factor of

a) get shit done

b) get nothing done

which would you prefer the monarch to do?

i'm a fulltime college student doing an accelarated 2 year bachelors. I do not have time to dungeon delve. I'ts everyone else's money (mostly directly donated as lump sums) I'm spending when I build castles so that we have more land. The least I can do is ensure that the budget stretches as far as possible. I can't afford to put 1000gp of other peoples donated money into visiting a town on the off chance that there's something to buy. that's not giving value for money for the donors. money already doesn't stretch far enough.

some of the Red and orange cities only cost me 15gp to visit. This is less of a waste of money.

I've set my tax low, (20 + Level - 1).  About on par with the red cities I've visited.

Not that I expect much traffic anyway, given Flyingzone only has1 shop and no blacksmith. :)

And I too avoid high tax cities.

Edited to ask a silly question: What do traps do when you build them to help defend a town?  Are they a waste of money?

I have no idea about traps.

I recently took over Acnashagree. It had 80000 gold in its chest. Holy shit, I'm rich.

EDIT: I'm going to build a castle at 96, 60. I need someone to put a garrison in that place.

EDIT2: turns out the place is occupied by another player. I need Tiruin to momentarily move one of his garrisons away from either 96,51 or 96,60

Maybe you can go a bit further north. I'd like to give Tiruin a chance to put towers up at those locations then I can put castles on top of her garrisons. I checked and she has logged into the game recently, so she hasn't disappeared. gave her a pm outlining the options.

How about either 88,34 which will put pressure on two cities that turned red, or 87,25 which should grab another NPC city.

~

People with cities: make sure to build or upgrade barracks in your cities and fill up the garrisons with affordable recruits. Cities are good safe training for extra castle guards. Once you have guys in the city barracks at around level 8, armor them to the teeth and set out to raise a castle. Don't forget to refill the city barracks when you do that.

It looks like the best strategy will be to fill out the eastern map edge then grab slices of land heading west in the north of the map. Staberinde is weak there and there are plenty of neutral cities.

I ended up already making one at 96,34, and solving the problem with the one in 95,52 not capturing enough terrain. It was buggy as hell, it made my highest level character disappear for five minutes while I was just capturing and ceding the garrison over and over again.

Also, Stavewilds has been raided, the major has been killed, and I hope that the people there change their minds aobur joining red.

Observation: Tiruin is female.

If there's anything specific I can do for the war effort, let me know. I've been pretty busy recently, but I can make time to run some errands if I need to.

Okay. I default for He for everybody whose gender I don't know in the internet.

Ok you're all "it" from now on to avoid confusion. I don't even have proof any of you are real people.

I have no idea how to build a tower even if I have stocked up on materials at the garrison location. :-\

If you have a party level 10, stand over the place with the mats and a hammer icon will appear near the manage garrison button.

Ok Tiruin I'll be along today to turn those into castles for you. We're heading towards 2/3rds of the land area of Staberinde sometime soon. With good coverage it won't be long before we have more blue than red.

I like our navy blue, and thanks Tomcost (who apparently I now know is the person contacting me in-game XD) for the niceness!
...I'm feeling quite rich that I'd want to upgrade one area purely by myself. >_> <_<
Does 80k cut the castle amount, or at least the barracks and other utility costs?

And I edited that bit on my outpost being displaced on the kingdom map. It...was never moved?

Well I upgrade my castles with a level 10 barracks, so that my guys level up faster, in the hope I'll get more cities one day. A castle + level 10 barracks costs just over 40K. You can also upgrade the markets in your castles, but I'm pretty sure that money goes to the kingdom not your garrison once the castle is ceded. Definitely max out barracks and markets in cities and keep the city garrisons stuffed full of guys. Once they're high enough level you can shift them out as a ready-made garrison for a new castle then refill the city with noobs.

I had spare materials after doing your castles Tiruin so started a few levels of both barracks and markets there.

So, after realizing that Reelya is way better at building castles than me, I donated 100k gold. I hope it helps.
