I've declared allegiance and set my garrisons to claim land.  I'll claim a town in the near future (or attempt to anyway  :))

Garrisons seem to only be claiming 3x3 squares, as opposed to 5x5. Does the rest need to be claimed manually, or what?

If I want to recruit more people to my party, I basically have to choose from the ones at the recruitment office?  Can I start a fresh level 1?

Only at level 10 or 12, I think, for a price of 15000 gold. If you cast around a bit for different recruits, you can get hold of most things.

You need to cede them to the Kingdom.
Those 3x3 are your land claims from the parties(probably), eg. the ticked box (claim land for kingdom).
The fort has to be given to the Kingdom to make claims of its own, it will raise your loyalty rating in the Kingdom tab when u do it a few times. Takes about 10-15 minutes to kick in and show up on the map once u cede the fort.

How do we do that?

Under the 'Building' tab if you were managing the garrison, or from the main screen if you were managing the building specifically, there's a 'Cede Building' option. It then says "There is a <building> here controlled by The Kingdom of The Slaves to Armok."

What's a good price for plate mail?  I'm assuming those shops at the cities are actually player shops right?

EDIT: Should I be only trying to buy equipment from our cities?

Oh, so you have to be in the garrison to do that, got it.

Shops are from NPCs. If you buy at our cities, you increase prosperity in our towns. The prices are always similar, I think.

I wouldn't worry too much; the shops aren't player shops, except for the trade hall, as far as I know. Look for high-prosperity towns, as those tend to have a large number of shops and consequently higher-quality shops (look for boutiques and marts, rather than junk stores) which are more likely to stock plate.

Ed: Tom, you should be able to cede it from the 'Garrisons' menu at the top of the screen.
Ed2: Whoops, no.

Its been a month or so since I played for various reasons, so memory a bit hazy but, you get 10 (I believe) personal claims per day also. Do you know about this?

Garrison at 89,63 is empty. I am over it right now. I could claim it, but I don't want to create hostilities between us and Skr. What should I do? I currently do not have the characters to man it properly, even less defend it from him.

That would be Reelya's call to make being Monarch and all, call to arms etc :)

Id say leave it for now. Use your personal claims to grab 92,68 to 92,73. Reelya's fort there will grab the rest of the area south of there that will cut him off from further south intrusion and see if he reacts. The other forts when ceded, to the west will close of the rest. I think his green "strands" will stay until they fade out, but snatch them up with personal claims if u can and begin to cut him off. Honestly with even 5 active players claiming, and him semi active, all that south land is already as good as lost imo.

You do personal claim with the red flag icon. You need to be next to already claimed land, then claim the land you are standing on.

Edit.
If you grab the land I suggest and then go right one, south again, then west. Thats 10 land to join those 3 blocks and cut off that strand there. Eg. Finishing at 92,75.

Garrison at 85,83 (also green) is also empty. Skr is not very active, it seems that (if the queen desires), we could give them to new players.

Also, Rothaven just turned to our Kingdom because of my garrison nearby.
