Yeah we need to vuln root. We're not beating the boss this turn so need to get folks up.

There is but one enemy, now, who can only strike out at one of us. If, by chance, we all miss this turn, root dies. If, by chance, two of us miss, root dies if we don't do enough damage. I don't like that risk. If we wait until next turn, we can make that risk because we will have more bodies on average.

He probably means against regular mounts (horses) because running directly at a sharp stick is generally never good for horses.
