Ruler's Name: Mage-Queen Sodia Talmanari
Ruler's Description: Born into a family of magi whose job was to deal with various transmundane creatures and occurrences that may threaten the country, Sodia was always expected to succeed her parents and carry on the family name, as she came to be one of the most talented human sorceresses of her age. However, her ambition was set for higher things, and she focused her efforts on creating a name of her own that would stick in the minds of the people as one destined to rule. Today, the Talmanari dynasty controls Laevetain completely, and Sodia herself sits at the top. She is Lawful Neutral, preferring to keep her kingdom out of the larger good-and-evil struggles that plague the world, unless they directly affect Laevetain.
Kingdom's Name: Laevetain (Lay-va-tain)
Flag/Colors: Red and silver. Country flag is a brown-and-dark blue background, separated across the middle with a horizontal line. A series of silver stars dots the upper dark blue portion, whilst a red pillar comes up from the bottom edge and connects both together, but does not reach the top. The tip of the pillar splits into two prongs that take the shape of wings, with the largest silver star located directly between them, symbolizing all of them together as a stronger whole.
Capital City: Ishval
Geography and climate: Laevetain is situated in a land-locked region of rocky crags, hot springs, and sparse trees located near the foot of a breadth of snow-capped hills. It is difficult to reach, but this cuts both ways, as trade suffers whilst security gains advantage. However, Laevetain has long had a history of independence, and they maintain a robust culture despite regular times of scarcity and their proximity to monster-infested lands.
Population Description: The main demographics of the Kingdom of Laevetain tend to stick around roughly two-fourths human and one-fourth dwarf, with the remainder consisting of a sprinkling of elves and other, more wild races. The independent, decentralized culture of Laevetain lends itself well to inter-racial cooperation, and offers a relatively safe haven for those fleeing from persecution.
Governance:
1) Leadership: The Mage-Queen of the Talmanari dynasty keeps a very tight grip over most of her realm, whilst still recognizing the need for independence and pride amongst the people of Laevetain. She is well-respected and rightly feared both amongst her allies and enemies in the kingdom and beyond.
2) Military: The kingdom maintains a diverse and well-supplied military force that mixes the tactics and strengths of its different races together, but it still can't maintain a perfect net due to its relatively high land area and need to deal with regular incursions from outside forces.
3) Organization: The kingdom itself is largely scattered into many distinct towns, covens and communities, several of which all have their own unique cultures and traditions. This makes for a fine place to make a name for oneself, but also makes it a nightmare to keep track of everyone at once even at the best of times; there is a saying among Laevetanians that you could live there for twenty years and still never know all of your neighbors at the same time.
4) Economy: Perhaps the biggest issue facing the kingdom is not the threat of monster attack in an unorganized state, however, but the fact that Laevetain as a whole just barely shares a unified currency; many prominent clans and cities all mint their own coins, and not all of them are recognized throughout the country. To fix this problem, the Talmanari Dynasty instituted 'Nomes'; a single gold currency for which an exchange system was devised, which in turn recognized all the common types of currency in Laevetain. Without this simplest of laws, Laevetain may as well be a dozen separate kingdoms rather than a truly unified whole.
((...Yep, I did that in an hour. And here I thought I was just going to work on my own game, lol...)
