Europa Universalis 4 LP - The Papal States
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:45:03 pm »

The basic premise is as follows: Anyone who feels like it gives me a rough goal to head for and I'll do my best to complete it. Democracy may be involved if a number of goals are suggested, particularly conflicting ones. As far as country played, I'm happy to either pick or leave it up to you lot, with some restrictions, all based on not getting bored as hell. Feel free to roleplay advisors or timetravelling amateur historians all you want.

Anyone interested?

Sure. I don't think I've seen EU4 played yet, and like all EU games, I enjoy them better as a spectator sport.

Papacy's totally doable. I doubt I'll recreate my EU3 Papal Middle East, but I think I could probably get away with a fairly good sized Papal States. I'll throw together a state of the world for initial goals and suchforth soonish.

Does pope get some kind of bonus for papal influence or curia? In eu3 pope always had 100 papal influence, but I'm not sure how it works in eu4

I believe the Papal States always have a chance to become curia controller, although I'm not sure about papal influence. I generally ignore the curia because it's pretty crappily done, sadly.

Suggested goals if you go with the Papal States: Amass enough military power to put down the Protestant reformation by whatever means necessary. Try to get Constantinople and Jerusalem under the control of a Christian nation.

Suggested goal for papacy: unite the HRE under papal rule (and by that I mean no other nations in the HRE other than the papacy itself).

I don't think the first part is really doable as the Papal States unless the reformation's a century or so late, sadly. The second is pretty likely if this goes similarly to my Tuscan game.

Is dismantling the HRE cheating?
