FPS drop and other questions
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:44:00 pm »

Finally got the urge to play again, and my current fort has been doing ok.

But after a forgotten beast showed up and killed something like 30+ dwarfs before dying fps has dropped massively. This seems to be from every dwarf alive discovering all the lovely socks etc. now ownerless on the cavern floor, and they all are heavily engaged in moving these to stockpiles, or also dumping all their clothes in their bedrooms.

Another problem has been a series of troglodyte bodies rotting on the surface. The dorfs refuse to move them to the refuse/corps pile, and most of them get traumatised by the sight with job cancellation as a result. Is there a cure for this unacceptable behaviour? Death should after all be quite a natural thing.

Fps seems to improve as the pile of bodies and clothes gets moved around, and cabinets at least cleared the visual clutter of the dorfs rooms. Does storage in cabinets improve fps over them dumping crap all over the place?

By default dwarves are set to ignore refuse outside. o-r will open the refuse orders menu where you can change your settings.

Have you tried an atom smasher?  That'll take all those worn socks right out of existence.

DFhack seemed to work, place was back up and running, just finished my coffin fabrication.

New forgotten beast shows up, this one is just a blob of flame...............the game really hates me, this is going to be FUN.
