The genies, unable to make wishes on their own, ask you to make a wish to save them, you, and everything nearby from the incoming nukes. With only seconds to spear, you don't read the fine print, and your wish causes all of humanity except for yourself to cease to exist, while you are locked away in isolation(to prevent the destabilising effect that a single source of wishes would have on genie society), released only when the genies need a wish to save their civilisation.
