All man-made devices explode. Specifically, they gain the ability to communicate verbally and become outwardly very angry and emotionally abusive before reverting to their previous, non-sapient state. Also, they are now chemically inert.

Granted, Puppguard(whoever that is)is inside an appropriately sized cage, however that Kate just made out of toothpicks and they break out within seconds.

Granted. Aliens invade the earth, and transform all of the human race into organic computers using horribly dystopian application of brain computer interfaces, and powerful chemical cocktails.  All humanity is suspended in a state of perpetual bliss, experiencing only abstract sensations of sound, touch, and color, as their brains interpret and naturally respond to the computer data being fed into them, while high as kites. In actuality, they are being used for very debasing, and undignified tasks, such as cleaning sewer pipes with robots using their sensory processing capacity to permit navigation. They just "experience" that processing in the form of psychedelic acid tripping sensations.

I wish humans were better able to control their urges.

Granted, all humans now have complete control over their urges but this transformation fundamentally altered what urges humans have which no longer include any survival related functions and thus scociety continues on fairly well for the next few months while everyone starves to death, but is in fact totally okay with that fact. Aliens later discover the planet but are so freaked out that they leave within minutes.

I wish everyone became giant, intelligent cockroaches, A la The Metamorphosis but with functional hands and the ability to speak.

Granted. Everyone dies of asphyxiation as well. The reason why giant insects do not exist is that insect breathing is inefficient. In carbon (the era) there was more oxygen in the atmosphere, so it worked. But not anymore.

I wish for atmosphere to be 40% oxygen, like it was in carbon.
