It's Oregon Trail, but without a Trail or Oregon and all of the pioneers are dependent on alcohol.

I've always been fond of the quote about micromanaging manic-depressive alcoholic midgets.

Or just linking them to Boatmurdered.

Quietust, what would we ever do without you and your endless knowledge of v0.23a?
I was going to say "fail spectacularly", but you guys seem to be doing a great job of that already.

Depending on who they are, sometimes it's better to describe the game as "leading a bunch of dwarves into the wilderness to establish a fortress and try not to die", and leave out... everything.

Please don't shitpost, it lowers the quality of discourse
Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Most time's I start by saying. "It like Sim city from hell." Or "The best game ever!"

I can't find the actual quote, but someone's got it in their sig I think. "Think Simcity, but where they mayors of neighboring cities arm legions of homeless people to attack you" or something along those lines.

I saw in someone elses sig, a comment about a wife calling it the homicidal alcoholic midget game.

I tend to link people to Boatmurdered, which I find sidesplittingly hilarious, and most people find psychopathic.... and also telling them it's a fantasy version of Simcity, without graphics and with a great deal more detail (I realise there are actually graphics, but most people don't consider what we consider graphics to actually be graphics). I also mention it's murderous, an incredibly bloody game of trying to set up your own functioning fortress in a "failed Lord of the Rings type of world".

Or, if they really won't understand, I tell them it's just a strange compute game and web phenomenon.

I just call it "The game where you can beat people to death with their own vomit". So far, I've managed to extract a promise from one person to play it.

Its a logistics simulation game where you must create and manage an outpost that grows.

Leave out the high-fantasy, dwarven, and combat oriented parts at your discretion.  Also make sure you say its so complex that the graphics are 'letters'

After how much beating with their own vomit?

It is so complex its graphics were compressed into symbols so that all that needed info fits on your screens.

Beside all that, there is also this signature.
