well there could have been low worshipper counts and he got pissed and killed them, or another more powerful disease god killing his followers, or some other third thing.

anyways I'll assume you continue trying to quarantine if no suggestions and will probably have hero thread up this weekend

Government: figure out how much this plague has set us back.
Military: Continue to quarantine.
People: Offer sacrifices to the god of diseases.

It would seem the plaugue has mostly effected those who frequented the public showers. The caste that was effected the most was the machinists since they work in close proximity to each other and use the showers more than others because of their dirty jobs. ((Machinists being people who work on the clockwork systems)).
Fewer infected are roaming the streets and almost no new cases have sprung up for a couple weeks. Those in quarantine are either in severe condition or are perfectly healthy. No one that has become infected in quarantine and then recovered has been released yet.
Your citizens begin going to the sub shrine in your temple to sacrifice small animals and offer prayers.

The sister city seems to have entirly avoided the plague and has been able to support the main city through it's disaster, there was no food shortage or other such things during the plague

The diseas god aids you in creating a process of forming blood transfusions that can cure your people. It is currently a long and tedious process.

Your priests have sent word to you that a special hero has approached them with a claim to being connected to you. They ask for you to send him on a mission to prove his claim.
You can speak to him but you choose if you want to hear him or not. He may pray to you for help and he can help you gain power.

We have a potentially senile death-mage a young eager sorcerentist with fresh eyes may find a good solution at least making the pre-existing cure more efficient to make and distribute.

And the plague has died down and a cure is being produced.

Update
Necro has increased potency of cure vials/vacines can be produced more easily with less blood.
Disease god has gained enough power to stop infection from spreading in quarantine.

Will you send others with the hero?

Yes 3 other people. two of them need to be able to sail and the third must be reasonably knowledgable in survival.
