Deadly Jackalopes and missing dwarves
« on: February 07, 2015, 03:37:06 pm »

Hello guys,

After a year without DF i decided to return and started with MDF 6.2 (because i like all those many things dwarves have and not ready to give up on them). So i wanted to test all those new things Meph added after 4j (the latest i played) and so i gave Armoks Blessing to all dwarves and started with 20 with "Fastdwarf 1 1". So i have 5 axedwarves with legendary+5 skills and Bismuth Bronze Battrle Axes. They totally decimate everything moving. And then i got a message that a Jackalope sprung from ambush. Now i have a dead Jackalope corpse and 2 missing axedwarves. I can't find their bodies, though i see their axes lying on the ground. Reports show no sign of where they are (they say about axedwarf attackibg, can't understand which of them are missing and none with reports about them loosing a battle):(

I can't understand what happened to them. Anyone got any ideas?

Not much to go on, so my first wild guess is "Did they fall into water and drown?" Look in nearby murky pools or rivers for bodies.

Nope -  no water pools nearby and fastdwarf 1 1 with legendary swim skill pretty much guaratees their survival

if you have your manager at 100% accuracy, you can check your stocks screen and check the corpses section, bottom of the list, look for the names of the dwarves that are missing. if you see the corpse for the dwarf in question you can zoom to the corpse to see where it is. sometimes a missing dwarf is only missing due to his body not being able to be recovered due to terrain or other obstacles

Such dodging on top of walls and such, where they can't climb down, and starving to death?

Bookkeeper wasn't on top at that moment (didn't even had time to build first table) but i had corpse stockpile and it was empty (with  a lot of free dwarves for hauling). Also there were no walls and it had taken place of open space of land. Only few tiles with dwarves blood and their axes there... No bodies:(
